Harald Salling-Mortensen
Harald Søren Salling-Mortensen (1902–1969) was a Danish architect who mainly worked in an around Aarhus in the first half of the 20th century. He designed several important buildings in the city and his style reflects the development of Danish architecture in his time, with plenty of Nordic functionalist characteristics. Background Salling-Mortensen was born in Esbjerg on 6 July 1902 to train driver Morten Mortensen, later mayor of Esbjerg, and Augusta Elisabeth Salling. He was married to Christence Elisabeth Kjær on 26 December 1934 in Esbjerg and died on 15 October 1969 in Aarhus. He is interred at Vestre Cemetery. Harald became a master carpenter in 1921, graduated from Odense Technical School in 1923 and studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen 1925–26. Axel Høeg-Hansen
Axel Høeg-Hansen (27 June 1877 – 30 August 1947) was a Danish architect. Stylistically he mainly worked in neoclassical and functionalist styles. He primarily worked in and around Aarhus at the turn of the 20th century. Background Axel Høeg-Hansen was born at Frederiksberg in Copenhagen. is parents were Henrik Hansen and Alma Isabella Clausen. He attended vocational school for business in 1893–94 and went on to become a master mason in 1897. Alfred Mogensen
Alfred Mogensen was a Danish architect and a City Architect of Aarhus. Biography Alfred Mogensen was born Aarhus, Denmark. He was the son of Asmus Marius Fisker and Petra Louise Jacobsen. He was educated as a carpenter at Aarhus Technical School. He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Architecture School from 1909. He worked as a carpenter between 1916 and 1920. He found employment in various architect firms in Aarhus and Copenhagen and worked as the building inspector for Kaj Gottlob during the construction of St. Luke's Church between 1921 and 1926. In 1925 he was hired by the City Architects office in the Aarhus Municipality administration where he worked until 1943 when was appointed to the position of City Architect, a position he held until 1968. Mølleparken
Mølleparken (Lit. The Mill Park) is a park in the city of Aarhus located in Midtbyen. Mølleparken was constructed in 1926 where the, by then obsolete, mills of the city had been situated by the river since 1289. Today the park lies by the Aarhus River and the ARoS Art Museum and functions as a section of a pedestrian arterial from ARoS to the Latin Quarter. Mølleparken was extensively redesigned in 2006-2008, as part of the opening of the Aarhus River and now contains large areas for public recreation and facilities for street sports, including basket ball, panna, table tennis and concrete board game tables for playing chess, backgammon and checkers.
