Hansweert
Hansweert is a village in the southwest Netherlands. History The first mention of what later is called Hansweert is made in 1353. Variants of the name include Hannekinswaerde, Hannekijnswaard, and Hanzwartz; the last of those is probably the source for the modern variant Answest. For a long time Hansweert was a small, agrarian community; it was notable only for the Hansweert-Walsoorden ferry, which dates from the 16th century and connects Hansweert in Zuid-Beveland to Walsoorden in Zeelandic Flanders. Reimerswaal (municipality)
Reimerswaal () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the province of Zeeland in the southwestern Netherlands on Zuid-Beveland, named after the Reimerswaal (city), lost city. The municipality had a population of in , and has a surface area of of which is water. The central town Yerseke is known for trade in mussels and oysters. The Canal through Zuid-Beveland (Dutch: ''Kanaal door Zuid-Beveland'') in the southwest Netherlands is the westernmost of two canals crossing the Zuid-Beveland peninsula. Scheldt–Rhine Canal
The Scheldt–Rhine Canal (Schelde-Rijnkanaal) in Belgium and the Netherlands connects Antwerp with the Volkerak, and thereby the Scheldt with the Rhine. Route The canal starts close to the Scheldt river, at the port of Antwerp, and generally runs north. Walsoorden
Walsoorden is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Hulst, and lies about 22 km southwest of Bergen op Zoom. The village was first mentioned in 1210 as Volcousthord, and means "land (near water) of the people of Wale (person)". Walsoorden has one monument: the Beauforts sluice. It was built in 1761, and unlike other sluices, it does not have any doors, but uses a slide. The sluice is named after J.F. de Beaufort who was in charge of the water board. On 12 March 1906, large parts of Zeeland were flooded, but the sluice in Walsoorden managed to hold the water back. Walsoorden was home to 99 people in 1840. The village used to be part of the municipality of Hontenisse. In 2003, it was merged into Hulst.
