Hansa Borg Bryggerier is a Norwegian brewery and distribution company which markets beer, bottled water and soft drinks. History Hansa Borg Bryggerier AS was founded in 1997, after a merger between Hansa Bryggeri and Borg Bryggerier. The company is controlled by the Egenæss family (75% ownership), who owned Borg since 1905 until the merger in 1997. Other principal owners are the Swedish-based Spendrups Bryggeri AB and Danish-based Royal Unibrew. The brewery is Norway's second largest manufacturing and marketing of beer and mineral water. It operates three regional breweries plants located in Bergen, Sarpsborg, Kristiansand and Olden, Norway. Hansa Bryggeri
Hansa Bryggeri (Hansa Brewery) is the local brewery of Bergen, Norway. It was established in 1891 by Waldemar Stoud Platou when he acquired the minor local brewery Det Sembske Bryggeri. The name "Hansa" is meant to reflect Bergen's history as one of the Hansa trading cities. The brewery was originally situated in a part of Bergen called Kalfaret, at the foot of mount Fløyen, but relocated to an industrial area outside the city during the 1980s. Hordaland () was a county in Norway, bordering Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Telemark, and Rogaland counties. Hordaland was the third largest county, after Akershus and Oslo, by population. Oldedalen
Oldedalen is a river valley in Stryn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The long valley runs north-south and ends at the Nordfjorden at the village of Olden. The south end of the valley reaches up to the great Jostedalsbreen glacier inside Jostedalsbreen National Park. The small Briksdalsbreen is a smaller arm that branches off the main Jostedalsbreen glacier, and it sits at the end of the Oldedalen valley. It is a tourist attraction due to its easy to reach location. The western side of the valley is a fairly steep wall of mountains with the Myklebustbreen glacier at the top. Southern Norway
Southern Norway ( no, Sørlandet; lit. "The Southland") is the geographical region (''landsdel'') along the Skagerrak coast of southern Norway. The region is an informal description since it does not have any governmental function. Østfold
Østfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in southeastern Norway. It borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden (Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat was Sarpsborg. Olden is a village and urban area in the municipality of Stryn in Vestland county, Norway. Olden is located at the mouth of the Oldeelva river at the northern end of the Oldedalen valley on the southern shore of the Nordfjorden. It is located about southwest of the village of Loen, about a drive southeast of the municipal center of Stryn, and about east of the village of Innvik. Christianssands Bryggeri
Christianssands Bryggeri (or CB, Kristiansand's Brewery) is a Norwegian brewery centred in Kristiansand. Together with Hansa Bryggeri in Bergen and Borg Bryggerier in Sarpsborg it makes up Hansa Borg Bryggerier AS, which is the second largest group of breweries in Norway, next to Ringnes (which is ownd by Carlsberg). CB was created in 1856 by consul Ole Jacob Mørch. In 1859 he had to sell the brewery, together with the rest of his enterprises, as a consequence of hard times following the Crimean War. The brewery was sold to consul Jørgen Christiansen, who finished building the brewery and started production in the autumn of 1859. Kristiansand had about 11,000 inhabitants at this time and the brewery became a successful business. The Christiansen family led the enterprise for five generations until 1964.
