Hansa Bryggeri
Hansa Bryggeri (Hansa Brewery) is the local brewery of Bergen, Norway. It was established in 1891 by Waldemar Stoud Platou when he acquired the minor local brewery Det Sembske Bryggeri. The name "Hansa" is meant to reflect Bergen's history as one of the Hansa trading cities. The brewery was originally situated in a part of Bergen called Kalfaret, at the foot of mount Fløyen, but relocated to an industrial area outside the city during the 1980s. Waldemar Stoud Platou
Waldemar Stoud Platou (11 August 1868 – 13 July 1930) was a Norwegian businessperson. He had a long career in the brewery industry. Personal life He was born in Furnes, Norway, Furnes as the son of banker Christian Fredrik Stoud Platou (1824–1883) and Elise Sem (1833–1923). He was a brother of Gabriel Andreas Stoud Platou and Christian Emil Stoud Platou, grandnephew of Ludvig Stoud Platou, uncle of Karen Platou, Karen, Ragnar Stoud Platou, Ragnar and Frithjof Stoud Platou and granduncle of Lars T. Platou. He was also a second cousin of Oscar Ludvig Stoud Platou, Oscar, Lars Hannibal Sommerfeldt Stoud Platou, Lars and Valborg Platou. Platou married three times. Kalfaret
Kalfaret is a neighborhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The neighborhood is located in the borough of Bergenhus, just north of the Store Lungegårdsvannet bay, east of the city centre. The area is an affluent neighborhood, although it is close to the main train line that runs into Bergen Station. History Prior to the end of the 19th century, the prominent citizens of Bergen had lived side by side with the rest of the city's population. However, as they became increasingly wealthy and influenced by international ideas and fashions, the upper classes sought to distance themselves from the dirt and the bustle of the city. Kalferet, located along the main route to Bergen, presented a more genteel but still convenient location and soon became the natural choice for the well-to-do. Fløyen
Fløyen or Fløyfjellet is one of the "city mountains" in Bergen, Hordaland, Norway. Its highest point is above sea level. The name could originate from ''fløystangen'' or a weather vane that was set up to indicate the direction of the wind for sailing ships. The view of the Bergen peninsula makes Fløyfjellet a popular attraction among tourists and locals alike. Østfold
Østfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in southeastern Norway.
