Hans Huitfeldt Riddervold
Hans Huitfeldt Riddervold (16 October 1927 – 26 July 1980) was a Norwegian media executive. He was born in Kristiania as a son of newspaper manager Hans Julius Riddervold (1901–1986) and Cathrine Huitfeldt. He was a paternal great-great-grandson of politician Hans Riddervold, He was a nephew of editor Henrik Jørgen Schibsted Huitfeldt. He was married to Tove, née Baumann. He took his examen artium in 1946, and took a bookprinter's apprenticeship in Grøndahl & Søn from 1947 to 1951. He then studied at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and graduated with the Bachelor of Science degree in 1954. He was hired in the family-owned newspaper ''Aftenposten'' in 1953 as a civil engineer. He advanced to technical manager in 1957, technical director in 1966 and chief executive officer in 1970. Ullern
Ullern is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. History The borough has its name from an old farm, Norse ''Ullarin''. The first element is the genitive case of the name of the Norse god Ullr. The last element is ''vin'', meaning pasture or meadow. In Medieval times, the farm belonged to the monastery at Hovedøya. Following the Reformation in 1536, the farmland was separated between the crown and the local canon. Formally divided into lower and upper Ullern in 1740, both farms were bought by Herman Severin Løvenskiold, in 1878 and 1866 respectively. At the time, Ullern was a part of the rural municipality Aker. Signs of urbanization began in the 1800s, when Skøyen and areas along the Lysaker River, which divides Ullern from Bærum, began developing into industrial sites. Hans Julius Riddervold (20 May 1901 – 1986) was a Norwegian media executive. He was born in Kristiania as a son of attorney Hans Riddervold (1869–1928) and Sophie Magdalena Haneborg. He was a paternal great-grandson of politician Hans Riddervold, and his father was a first cousin of Nils Riddervold Jensen. In 1925 he married Cathrine Huitfeldt, a sister of Henrik Jørgen Schibsted Huitfeldt. They had the son Hans Huitfeldt Riddervold. He took his examen artium in 1920, and also graduated from Kristiania Commerce School in 1922. He worked in the company Stormbull from 1924, and then started in the family-owned newspaper ''Aftenposten''. He advanced to office manager in 1930, then manager from 1939. He also served a few years as chief executive officer. He was a board member from 1935, and after retiring in 1970 he was the board's chairman from 1970 to 1976.
