Hana Gartner
Hana Gartner CM is a retired Canadian investigative journalist who is best known as the host and interviewer of several programs for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Early life and education Gartner was born in 1948 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, but grew up in Chomedey, Laval, Quebec. She studied at Loyola College (now Concordia University), in Montreal, and graduated ''cum laude''. Career Gartner began her career as a radio host at Montreal's CJAD in 1970. In 1974, she joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a TV news anchor at CBMT Montreal. She moves to Toronto the following year to work on the program '' In Good Company'', alongside Roger Abbott, Don Ferguson, Nancy White, and Gene DiNovi. Don Ferguson (actor)
Don Ferguson (born May 30, 1946) is a Canadian actor, writer, and producer and is one of the stars of the ''Royal Canadian Air Farce''. He and Dave Broadfoot were the only Canadian-born original cast members of ''Air Farce''. In 1998, Ferguson and the original Air Farce cast of Roger Abbott, Luba Goy, and John Morgan received the Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, Canada's highest honour in the performing arts. His many ''Air Farce'' roles included parodies of Paul Martin, Pierre Trudeau, Ron MacLean, Jack Layton, Joe Clark, Preston Manning, Stockwell Day, Rex Murphy, Lucien Bouchard, Bill Clinton, Brian Mulroney, Vladimir Putin, Bob Dylan, and Keith Richards. Claude Savoie (policeman)
Joseph Philippe Claude Savoie (1943 – 21 December 1992) was a Canadian policeman and senior officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) who was involved in a major scandal that tarnished the popular image of the Mounties as an incorruptible force, being described by the Canadian scholar Steven Schneider as "the biggest case of police corruption in Canada for years". Savoie committed suicide in his office at the RCMP headquarters in Ottawa after his links to organized crime were exposed by investigative journalists from '' The Fifth Estate'' television program. Daniel Burke (born 1957) is a Canadian journalist and music promoter. Journalist Burke was born into a working class Irish Catholic family in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district of Montreal, where he grew up. As a teenager, he started to work as a copyboy for the ''Montreal Gazette'', the main English language newspaper in Montreal, where his father Timothy, worked as a sports writer. Julian Sher
Julian Sher is a Canadian investigative journalist, filmmaker, author and newsroom trainer based in Montreal, Quebec. He was an investigative producer for ten years then a senior producer for five years with the CBC's '' The Fifth Estate''. He has written extensively about outlaw motorcycle gangs, child abuse and the justice system. Career Sher began work at CBC in Montreal as an on-air radio journalist and show producer from 1983 to 1986. From 1986 to 1989, he was an investigative reporter for CBC Television in Montreal. He became a producer for the CBC network program '' The Fifth Estate'' from 1989 to 2001, where he covered wrongful convictions, police corruption, war criminals and biker gangs. Moses Znaimer (; born 1942) is a Tajik-born Canadian media executive of jewish descent. He is the co-founder and former head of Citytv, the first independent television station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the current head of ZoomerMedia. ''Take 30'' (also expressed as ''Take Thirty'') was a Canadian television newsmagazine series, which aired on CBC Television from 1962 to 1984 for 2,500 episodes. An afternoon series originally designed as a "women's show", the series gradually evolved into a showcase for serious journalism, airing documentary reports and interviews on social and cultural topics. Despite the title, the series at times aired in a 35-minute timeslot, as was the case in late 1965. The program's original hosts were Anna Cameron and Paul Soles. CBLT-DT (channel 5) is a television station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, serving as the flagship station of the English-language service of CBC Television. Judy LaMarsh
Julia Verlyn LaMarsh, (December 20, 1924 – October 27, 1980) was a Canadian politician, lawyer, author and broadcaster. In 1963, she was only the second woman to ever serve as a federal Cabinet Minister. Under Prime Minister Lester Pearson's minority governments of the middle and late 1960s, she helped push through the legislation that created the Canada Pension Plan and Medicare. As Secretary of State, she was in charge of Canada's Centennial celebrations in 1967. After leaving politics in 1968, she wrote three books, and had her own radio show on CBC Radio. She was stricken with pancreatic cancer in 1979 and was given the Order of Canada at her hospital bed. She died a few days short of the 20th anniversary of her first political election victory, in 1980.
