Fillmore County is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 21,228. Its county seat is Preston. Fillmore County is included in the Rochester metropolitan area. History Fillmore County was created on March 5, 1853. It is named for Millard Fillmore, the 13th president of the United States. Area code 507 is the telephone numbering plan code for the southern fifth of Minnesota, including cities such as Rochester, Mankato, Worthington, Fairmont, Albert Lea, Northfield, and Austin. It was the third area code created for use in the state in 1954, following the original 218 and 612. It was created from the southwestern portion of 218 and the southern portion of 612. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. It is a type of gazetteer. It was developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the United States Board on Geographic Names (BGN) to promote the standardization of feature names. Albert Plummer
Albert Plummer (August 9, 1840 – March 20, 1912) was an American physician and legislator. Born in Auburn, New Hampshire, Plummer graduated from Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire, and received his medical degree from Bowdoin College. He served in the 10th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War as a surgeon. In 1867, Plummer moved to Hamilton, Minnesota where he practiced medicine. In 1883–1884, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
