Haidenaab Cycleway
The Haidenaab is the right and western headstream of the River Naab in the Upper Palatinate in the south German state of Bavaria. At its confluence with the Waldnaab near Luhe-Wildenau, the Naab is formed. Course The river rises in the district of Landkreis Bayreuth, Bayreuth on the southern edge of the Fichtelgebirge mountains between Kirchenpingarten and the mountain of ''Platte'' (), about seven kilometres north of Speichersdorf. From there the ''Haidenaab'' heads in a southeasterly direction before reaching the district of Landkreis Tirschenreuth, Tirschenreuth by the Renaissance castle of Schlackenhof, where it is joined from the northwest by the ''Flernitzbach''. Running past Kaibitz Castle it enters the Neustadt an der Waldnaab (district), district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab after a short distance. Neustadt An Der Waldnaab (district)
Neustadt an der Waldnaab is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Schwandorf, Amberg-Sulzbach, Bayreuth and Tirschenreuth, and by the Czech Republic (Plzeň Region). The city of Weiden in der Oberpfalz is enclosed by, but does not belong to the district. History The district was established in 1972 by merging the former districts of Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Eschenbach and Vohenstrauß. Geography The district is located in the mountains of the Upper Palatine Forest (''Oberpfälzer Wald'').
