Haaken C. Mathiesen
Haaken Christian Mathiesen (24 February 1827 – 10 September 1913) was a Norwegian landowner and businessperson in the forestry sector. Personal life He was born on Linderud manor as the son of landowner Mogens Larsen Mathiesen (1799–1875) and his wife Johanne Hedevig Gløersen (1800–1885). He was a grandson of Haagen Mathiesen and a great-grandson of Mogens Larsen Monsen, and a first cousin of the three siblings Dikka Møller, Herman Anker, Christian August Anker as well as Sophus Larpent. Mathiesen was married twice. From September 1853 he was married to his first cousin—and Sophus Larpent's sister—Anna Sophie Josephine Larpent, but she died in February 1863. He then married another sister, Louise Julie Jeanette Larpent, in March 1866. She died in October 1875. By his first wife he had the son Haaken L. Mathiesen. Christian Pierre Mathiesen
Christian Pierre Mathiesen (14 April 1870 – 8 August 1953) was a Norwegian landowner and politician for the Conservative Party. Background He was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway, as the youngest son of landowner and industrialist Haaken C. Mathiesen. He finished his secondary education in 1888, graduated from the agricultural school at Sem in 1890 and also took agricultural education in Denmark. He was the owner of Linderud Manor from 1893, while his oldest brother Haaken L. Mathiesen inherited the family company Mathiesen Eidsvold Værk. In 1940 he passed Linderud Manor down to his nephew, another Mathiesen Eidsvold Værk inheritor, Jørgen Mathiesen. Career Having many political positions in Aker, Mathiesen was elected to the Parliament of Norway in 1900 from the constituency Akershus Amt. He served one term. The Order of the Dannebrog ( da, Dannebrogordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as ''White Knights'' to distinguish them from the ''Blue Knights'' who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The ''Grand Commander'' class is reserved to persons of princely origin. It is awarded only to royalty with close family ties with the Danish Royal House. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order. Mathiesen Eidsvold Værk ANS (MEV) is a Norwegian industrial company, owned by the Mathiesen industrial family, and historically one of the largest timber companies of Norway, and arguably Europe. The company's roots date back to 1671. From 1842 to 1892, the company was known as Tostrup & Mathiesen and owned by the Mathiesen and Tostrup families. The heir to the Tostrup family's shares sold it to the Mathiesen family, and it was renamed Mathiesen Eidsvold Værk in 1892. In the 1840s, the company established its headquarters in Paris, although it was since relocated to Norway.
