The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) is the public school board for the city of Hamilton. Established on January 1, 1998, via the amalgamation of the Hamilton and Wentworth County school boards, the board currently operates 93 elementary and secondary schools. The board has approximately 50,000 students in its 93 neighbourhood schools. In addition to the programming offered at 88 elementary and 15 secondary schools, a number of alternative programs focusing on sports, academics, science, arts and languages are available. 2022 Hamilton, Ontario Municipal Election
The 2022 Hamilton municipal election was a municipal election that occurred on 24 October 2022, as per the Ontario Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Residents of Hamilton selected one mayor, members of the Hamilton City Council, as well as members of both the English and French Public and Catholic School Boards using a first-past-the-post electoral system in single-member constituencies, called wards. Based on their electoral registration, voters also selected one of 11 Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board trustees, 9 Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board trustees, 1 Conseil scolaire Viamonde trustee, or 1 Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir trustee. Hamiltonians had the options of voting in-person or through a mail-in ballot. On election day, Hamiltonians elected Andrea Horwath to serve as mayor of the City of Hamilton. Glendale Secondary School
Glendale Secondary School is located at 145 Rainbow Drive in Hamilton, Ontario. The school was founded in 1959 and is a part of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. Hamilton is a port city in the Canadian province of Ontario. Westmount Secondary School is secondary school in Hamilton Ontario, Canada. It is a member of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. The school opened in 1961, and has a 2017-2018 enrolment of 1520 students. Programs The school is a member of the Canadian Coalition of Self-Directed Learning. Westmount also offers gifted classes, special education classes, as well as an ESL program. Since 1990, Westmount has operated under a self-directed learning program; more commonly referred to as a self-paced environment. The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) is the Catholic school board for the city of Hamilton, which includes the former Wentworth County. It currently operates 49 elementary schools and 7 secondary schools, along with one continuing education school. History The Hamilton Separate School Board (HSSB) was established in 1855 and the seven other boards were formed for the next 114 years in Wentworth County.
