Gregorio Martínez Sierra
Gregorio Martínez Sierra (6 May 1881 – 1 October 1947) was a Spanish writer, poet, dramatist, and theatre director, a key figure in the revival of the Spanish theatrical avant-garde in the early twentieth century. Work as a poet and playwright Martínez Sierra's literary career began at the age of 17 with the publication of ''El poema del trabajo'' ('The Poem of Work', 1898), a volume of poetry in the modernist style. His subsequent books of poetry included ''Diálogos fantásticos'' ('Fantastic Dialogues', 1899), ''Flores de escarcha'' ('Frost Flowers', 1900) and ''La casa de primavera'' ('The House of Spring', 1907). As a playwright, Martínez Sierra was one of the few progressive dramatists whose productions achieved any measure of commercial success at the time of their composition. Michael Powell
Michael Latham Powell (30 September 1905 – 19 February 1990) was an English filmmaker, celebrated for his partnership with Emeric Pressburger. ''Honeymoon'' ( es, link=no, Luna de miel), also shown as ''The Lovers of Teruel'' in the United States, is a 1959 film by the British director-writer Michael Powell based in part on the ballet ''El Amor Brujo'' by Manuel de Falla. The film stars Anthony Steel, Ludmilla Tchérina and Spanish ballet dancer Antonio, and features Léonide Massine. The film functions as a travelogue around Spain with dance interludes, mainly set to the repeated theme of "The Honeymoon Song" by Mikis Theodorakis. Fernando de Fuentes Carrau (December 12, 1894 – July 4, 1958) was a Mexican film director, considered a pioneer in the film industry worldwide. He is perhaps best known for directing the films ''El prisionero trece'', ''El compadre Mendoza'', and '' Vámonos con Pancho Villa'', all part of his '' Revolution Trilogy'' on the Mexican Revolution. ''El amor brujo'' (, "The sorcerer love") is a ballet by Manuel de Falla to a libretto by María de la O Lejárraga García, although for years it was attributed to her husband Gregorio Martínez Sierra. It exists in three versions as well as a piano suite drawn from four of its movements. Andalusian in character, its music includes the celebrated '' Danza ritual del fuego (Ritual Fire Dance)'', the ''Canción del fuego fatuo (Song of the Will-o'-the-Wisp)'' and the ''Danza del terror''. Antonio Román
Antonio Román (9 November 1911 – 16 June 1989) was a prolific Spanish film director, screenwriter, film producer. Antonio Román was born Ourense, Spain on 9 November 1911. Román began directing films in the later 1930s starting with documentaries. His first dramatic feature film was '' Esquadrilla''. His other work includes an adaptation of '' Lola Montes'' and '' La Fierecilla domada'', a retelling of ''The Taming of the Shrew''. Many of these films star his wife, actress Yvonne Bastien. Román has won several international awards such as Golden Olive Tree from the Cine de Humor de Bordighera in Italy for '' Bombas para la paz'' and an award for '' Pacto de silencio'' from the Cork Festival in Ireland. It is about a group of nuns who find an abandoned baby girl at the doorstep of their convent and decide to bring her up. The last act shows the girl, now a full-grown woman, leaving the convent to get married, and dramatizes the struggle of the nun who raised her to let her go. has been filmed many times in Spanish, and produced twice in English on TV's ''Hallmark Hall of Fame'', but this 1941 version is the only one actually directed by the author.
