Governor's Cup (Academics)
Governor's Cup is an academic tournament within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Participation Governor's Cup involves approximately 20,000 students. The following chart depicts the membership fees of each grade level: Operation The participants of this challenge are organized into three separate grade divisions. These divisions are Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. Elementary School division The Elementary School division of Governor's Cup allows students enrolled in fourth and fifth grades to compete against one another in District and Regional competitions. Tates Creek High School
Tates Creek High School (TCHS) is a public school in Lexington, Kentucky. The school is one of six high schools in the Fayette County Public Schools district. History Tates Creek High School was built, and founded in 1965 as the last of three schools on the Tates Creek Campus. (Tates Creek Elementary School and Tates Creek Middle School being the other two.) In 1993, Tates Creek High underwent renovations to significantly increase its size. In August 2019, it was decided a new Tates Creek High School would be constructed behind the original building which opened on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022. Quick Recall, featuring 2 halves of tossup and bonus questions, is used primarily for traditional academic competition in Kentucky. In Ohio, Quick Recall is different as it offers two rounds of team questions (with 1 toss-up style question per category), then an alphabet round in which all answers start with the same letter, and ending with a lightning round. Johnson Central High School
Johnson Central High School is a public secondary school located at 257 North Mayo Trail on the northwest side of Paintsville, Kentucky, United States. The school serves as the Johnson County School District's consolidated high school. As of the 2015–16 school year, enrollment was 1,048 in grades 9–12. Paul Laurence Dunbar (PLD) is a high school located at 1600 Man o' War Boulevard on the southwest side of Lexington, Kentucky, United States. The school is one of six high schools in the Fayette County Public Schools district. Paul Laurence Dunbar High School is named after the 19th century African-American poet, Paul Laurence Dunbar, whose parents were from Kentucky. The school was opened in 1990. duPont Manual High School is a public magnet high school located in the Old Louisville neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It serves students in grades 9– 12. It is a part of the Jefferson County Public School District. DuPont Manual is recognized by the United States Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. Ballard High School is a high school in the eastern suburbs of Louisville, Kentucky, and is a part of the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) school district. The school opened in the fall of 1968. The first students were in grades 7- 9, and a grade was added each year as the building was expanded. This kept the school system from having to transfer upper class students from other high schools. The first class (consisting of the original freshmen) graduated in 1972.
