Government Of The 15th Dáil
The Government of the 15th Dáil or the 7th Government of Ireland (2 June 1954 – 20 March 1957) was the government of Ireland formed after the general election held on 18 May 1954. Commonly known as the Second Inter-Party Government, it was a minority government of Fine Gael, the Labour Party and Clann na Talmhan. Clann na Poblachta, which had been in the First Inter-Party Government (1948–51) with these parties, supported the government but did form part of it. The Taoiseach is the head of government, or prime minister, of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The office is appointed by the president of Ireland upon the nomination of Dáil Éireann (the lower house of the Oireachtas, Ireland's national legislature) and the office-holder must retain the support of a majority in the Dáil to remain in office. William Sheldon (Irish Politician)
William Alexander Watson Sheldon (18 January 1907 – 1 November 1999) was an Irish politician and farmer. He was elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1943 general election as a Clann na Talmhan Teachta Dála (TD) for the Donegal East constituency. He was re-elected as an independent TD at the 1944, 1948, 1951, 1954 and 1957 general elections. He did not contest the 1961 general election. When tributes were paid to him in the Seanad after his death, it was said that this was because the constituency was reduced from 4 to 3 seats.
