Khowai District
Khowai district is a district of Tripura state of India. This district was created in January, 2012 when four new districts were created in Tripura, taking the number of districts in the state from four to eight. The district headquarters are located in the town Khowai. The district was carved out of West Tripura district along with new Sipahijala district. The district is divided into two subdivisions, namely Khowai and Teliamura. Etymology Khowai district derives its name from the namesake Khowai river, which runs across the district in north-south direction almost in the middle. Tripura University is a central university, the main public government university of Tripura, India. University Grants Commission (India)
University Grants Commission (UGC) is a statutory body set up by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education in India. It provides recognition to universities in India, and disbursements of funds to such recognized universities and colleges.
