The Goa Professional League (abbreviated as GPL, also known as the Selvel Goa Pro League for sponsorship reasons) is the premier state-level football league in Goa, India. It is organised by the Goa Football Association. History The official league in Goa, called the ''First division'', began in 1951 and was organised by the Conselho de Desportos. The first Llague champion of Goa was Clube Desportivo de Chinchinim who beat Football Club of Siolim, to clinch the title. League continued under the aegis of the Conselho de Desportos until the season of 1958–59, with Clube de Desportos de Vasco da Gama taking the title that year. In 1959, the Goa Football Association was established as the official administrative body of football and from that season onwards the league was conducted by GFA. Goa Football Association ( GFA; pt, Associação de Futebol de Goa) is the state governing body of football in Goa within the jurisdiction of the Republic of India. It is affiliated with the All India Football Federation, the national governing body. Caitano Fernandes heads GFA as its current President. Salgaocar Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Vasco, Goa, that competes in the Goa Professional League. They have also played in the I-League, then top flight of Indian football league system. Founded in 1956, the club is owned by the V. M. Salgaocar Group of Companies. 2013–14 Goa Professional League Season
The 2013–14 Goa Professional League (also known as the Airtel Goa Pro League for sponsorship reasons) is the 16th season of top-tier football in the Indian state of Goa. It began on 5 August 2013. Salgaocar are the defending champions. On 20 November 2013, Sporting Clube de Goa were crowned champions after Churchill Brothers failed to report for final round encounter, the title decider against Sporting Clube de Goa, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa. Sporting Clube reported at the venue as per the fixture and gained a walkover, hence being crowned the champions. Sporting Clube de Goa, simply known as Sporting Goa (also known by its abbreviation SCG), is an Indian professional football club based in Panaji, in the Indian state of Goa, that competes in Goa Professional League. The club has also competed in the I-League, then top flight of Indian football league system. It is built on the lines of Portuguese club Sporting CP and adopting a similar club crest. Its Futsal section competes in the Futsal Club Championship, top tier futsal club competition of the country. Sircaim
Sircaim (or Sirsaim) is a village situated in the Bardez sub-district or ''taluka'' of Goa, which lies along the west-coast of India. It lies close to or within the mining belt of North Goa. It is home to a football academy for youth, and a jetty for iron-ore transportation. Sesa Football Academy (SFA) is a football academy based in Sanquelim, Goa. Originally founded in the 1960s as Sesa Sports Club, its football team competes in the Goa Professional League, and previously participated in NFL II and I-League 2nd Division. SFA is a unit of Sesa Community Development Foundation, which is promoted by Vedanta Limited with the objective of service to the community in its operational areas. SFA began functioning in June 1999. All expenses including the academic studies are taken care of by the academy. Sesa Football Academy was the champion of the Goa First Division League in the 2018–19 season, and gained automatic promotion to the Goa Professional League, where they will play in the 2019–20 season. Panjim Footballers Club, or simply known as Panjim Footballers, is an Indian professional football club based in Panjim, Goa, that competes in the Goa Professional League. It's women's team previously participated in the Indian Women's League, and currently participates in GFA Vedanta Women's League. FC Goa Reserves And Academy
FC Goa Reserves and Academy is the reserve side and youth academy system of Indian Super League side FC Goa. Based in Goa, the reserve side participated in the I-League 2nd Division, the second division of Indian football, and currently in Goa Professional League.
