The 2012–13 Goa Professional League (also known as the Kingfisher (beer), Kingfisher Goa Pro League for sponsorship reasons) was the 15th season of top-tier football in the Indian state of Goa. Goa Professional League
The Goa Professional League (abbreviated as GPL, also known as the Selvel Goa Pro League for sponsorship reasons) is the premier state-level football league in Goa, India. It is organised by the Goa Football Association. History The official league in Goa, called the ''First division'', began in 1951 and was organised by the Conselho de Desportos. The first Llague champion of Goa was Clube Desportivo de Chinchinim who beat Football Club of Siolim, to clinch the title. League continued under the aegis of the Conselho de Desportos until the season of 1958–59, with Clube de Desportos de Vasco da Gama taking the title that year. In 1959, the Goa Football Association was established as the official administrative body of football and from that season onwards the league was conducted by GFA. Cliffton Gonsalves
Cliffton Gonsalves (born 15 February 1987) is a Goan footballer who played as a striker for Dempo S.C. in the I-League. Career Dempo After joining the Dempo U16 team at the age of 14 Gonsalves then graduated to the U18, U19, and U20 team. He then made his debut for the first-team during the 2007–08 season and he scored his first goal in the I-League at the age of 19 against Viva Kerala FC on 4 January 2008. He then scored again during the 2008–09 I-League he scored another goal against Mumbai on 13 February 2009. Romeo Fernandes
Romeo Fernandes (born 6 July 1992) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Indian Super League club East Bengal. Early life and education Romeo Fernandes was born on 6 July 1992 in Assolna, Goa. He did his schooling at Regina Martyrum High School. Career Dempo Romeo was scouted by Dempo youth team scout Joaquim Crasto in 2010, joining the club's youth team the same year. He was a key player for the Dempo's youth teams at U18, U19 and U20 levels. Dempo loaned out Romeo to Margao SC in the Goa Second Division where he helped Margao to promotion to the Goa Professional League in 2011. Joy Ferrao
Joy Ferrao (born 30 April 1987) is an Indian footballer who plays as a forward for Dempo S.C. in the I-League. Joy Ferrao was originally a youth player for Vasco SC and broke into the first-team in 2010 and became the top scorer for club and the whole league during the 2010 I-League 2nd Division. Career Vasco Ferrao broke into the Vasco SC first team in time for the 2010 I-League 2nd Division. After the campaign Vasco did not win promotion but Ferrao became the top scorer of the league by scoring four goals throughout the campaign. The next season Ferrao again became top scorer but only for his club and he became the top assist provider as well. Mapusa (म्हापशें) is a town in North Goa, India. It is situated 13 km north of the capital Panaji. The town is the headquarters of Bardez Taluka. Duler Stadium
Duler Stadium is a football stadium located in Mapusa, Goa, India. It is the former home of local I-League clubs who participated in the highest level of football in the country. Dempo SC, Salgaocar FC, and Sporting Clube de Goa use the venue for most of their home games. It also serves as home ground for other Goa Professional League clubs such as Vasco. Sunil Chhetri
Sunil Chhetri (born 3 August 1984) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains both Indian Super League club Bengaluru and the India national team. Sporting Club De Goa
Sporting Clube de Goa, simply known as Sporting Goa (also known by its abbreviation SCG), is an Indian professional football club based in Panaji, in the Indian state of Goa, that competes in Goa Professional League. SESA Football Academy
Sesa Football Academy (SFA) is a football academy based in Sanquelim, Goa. Originally founded in the 1960s as Sesa Sports Club, its football team competes in the Goa Professional League, and previously participated in NFL II and I-League 2nd Division. SFA is a unit of Sesa Community Development Foundation, which is promoted by Vedanta Limited with the objective of service to the community in its operational areas.
