Gino Rubert
Gino Rubert (born 1969) is a Spanish artist. He lives and works in Barcelona, Berlin and Cuernavaca (Mexico). Rubert has worked in the media of painting, video and installation art. Biography Rubert was born in 1969 in Mexico City. Son of the well-known Catalan philosopher Xavier Rubert de Ventós and the Mexican psychoanalyst and writer Magdalena Catala He studied Illustration at the Parsons School of New York and Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. In 1993 he won the Sala Parés Young Painting Prize. The same year he was also granted by the Spanish Academy in Rome in recognition of two hyper-realistic paintings. In 2008, three paintings of his were used to illustrate both Catalan and Spanish covers for Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larsson. He has taught at several art schools and universities such as Massana and EINA in Barcelona, Centro Cultural de España in Montevideo or Universidad Nacional de Bogotá. Santa Coloma de Gramenet () informally simply known as Santa Coloma (in Spanish: Santa Coloma de Gramanet, historically also known as ''Gramenet de Besòs'') is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain. María de los Remedios Alicia Rodriga Varo y Uranga (16 December 1908 – 8 October 1963) was a Spanish-born Mexican surrealist artist working in Spain, France, and Mexico. Early life Remedios Varo Uranga was born in Anglès, is a small town in the province of Girona (Catalonia), in northeastern Spain, in 1908. Her mother named Varo in honor of the Virgen de los Remedios (the "Virgin of Remedies") after a recently deceased older sister. Varo's father, Rodrigo Varo y Zajalvo (Cejalvo), was a hydraulic engineer. Because of his work, the family moved to different locations across Spain and North Africa. Dora de Houghton Carrington (29 March 1893 – 11 March 1932), known generally as Carrington, was an English painter and decorative artist, remembered in part for her association with members of the Bloomsbury Group, especially the writer Lytton Strachey. From her time as an art student, she was known simply by her surname as she considered ''Dora'' to be "vulgar and sentimental".
