Gilbert Py
Gilbert Py (9 December 1933 – 9 October 2021) was a French tenor. The power of his voice ranks him among the heroic tenors, the fullest and most powerful of the tenors (Samson), also called tenore robusto (Verdi's ''Otello'') and whose German equivalent is the Wagnerian ('' Tristan'', ''Siegfried'') Heldentenor. It is characterized by fullness, roundness and equal timbre, even in the treble. Biography: the saltimbanque at the Opera Py was born on 9 December 1933 in Sète in the department of Hérault. He spent his youth in a caravan on the fairgrounds with his family. They lived in Montpellier for a rather short stay, while continuing to travel, because the fairground profession made them live. Guy Chauvet
Guy Chauvet (2 October 1933 – 25 March 2007) was a French operatic singer in the tenor register, regarded as a Heldentenor. Biography Born in Montluçon, Allier, Chauvet discovered his voice at the age of sixteen during a local party. At Cannes in 1954, he was the youngest member of the tenor competition and one of five prizewinners, with Alain Vanzo, Tony Poncet, Roger Gardes and Gustave Botiaux. He started at the Palais Garnier as an Armored Man in ''The Magic Flute'' on 12 January 1959. To begin with, he held third roles in '' Aida'' with Renata Tebaldi and Rita Gorr and also in '' Samson et Dalila'' with Mario Del Monaco. Mathis Der Maler (opera)
''Mathis der Maler'' (''Matthias the Painter'' is an opera by Paul Hindemith. The work's protagonist, Matthias Grünewald, was a historical figure who flourished during the Reformation, and whose art, in particular the Isenheim Altarpiece, inspired many creative figures in the early 20th century. Hindemith completed the opera, writing his own libretto, in 1935. By that time, however, the rise of Nazism prevented Hindemith from securing a performance in Germany. The story, set during the German Peasants' War (1524-25), concerns Matthias's struggle for artistic freedom of expression in the repressive climate of his day, which mirrored Hindemith's own struggle as the Nazis attained power and repressed dissent. Rita Gorr
Rita Gorr (18 February 1926 – 22 January 2012) was a Belgian operatic mezzo-soprano. She possessed a large, rich-toned voice and was an intense singing-actress, especially in dramatic roles such as Ortrud (''Lohengrin'') and Amneris (''Aida''), two of her greatest roles. Tosca
''Tosca'' is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. It premiered at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro Costanzi in Rome on 14 January 1900. The work, based on Victorien Sardou's 1887 French-language dramatic play, ''La Tosca'', is a melodramatic piece set in Rome in June 1800, with the Kingdom of Naples's control of Rome threatened by Napoleon's Campaigns of 1800 in the French Revolutionary Wars#Italy, invasion of Italy.
