Gerald Harper
Gerald Harper (born 15 February 1931) is an English actor, best known for his work on television, having played the title roles in ''Adam Adamant Lives!'' (1966–67) and '' Hadleigh'' (1969–76). He then returned to his main love, the theatre. His classical work includes playing on Broadway with the Old Vic company, playing Iago at the Bristol Old Vic and Benedick at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Other plays in London included ''Crucifer of Blood'' at the Haymarket Theatre, ''House Guest'', ''A Personal Affair'', ''Suddenly at Home'' and ''Baggage''. He has directed many plays, amongst them a production of ''Blithe Spirit'' in Hebrew at the Israeli National Theatre. It starred Gerald Harper as James Hadleigh, a millionaire who relocates from London to Yorkshire and buys a local newspaper founded by his father many years before. Its screenplay by George Axelrod was based on the screenplay of 1938's ''The Lady Vanishes'' by Sidney Gilliat and Frank Launder, which in turn was based on the 1936 novel ''The Wheel Spins'' by Ethel Lina White. It stars Elliott Gould as Robert, Cybill Shepherd as Amanda (Iris), Angela Lansbury as Miss Froy, Herbert Lom, and Arthur Lowe and Ian Carmichael as Charters and Caldicott. The film is a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1938 film of the same name. The film follows two Americans travelling by train across 1939 Germany. Frankie Howerd
Francis Alick Howard (6 March 1917 – 19 April 1992), better known by his stage-name Frankie Howerd, was an English actor and comedian. Early life Howerd was born the son of soldier Francis Alfred William (1887–1934)England & Wales, Death Index: 1916–2005 and Edith Florence Howard (née Morrison, 1888–1962), at the City Hospital in York, England, in 1917 (not 1922 as he later claimed).
