Gekka
is the 30th single by Japanese entertainer Akina Nakamori. Written by Gorō Matsui and Shūgō Kajiwara, the single was released on October 5, 1994, by MCA Victor. Background "Gekka" was initially recorded by composer Kajiwara and released as a single on September 21, 1994, two weeks before Nakamori's version was released. Nakamori's version was used as an image song for Miki Corporation's "Boutique Joy" commercials. Nakamori has re-recorded "Gekka" for the 1995 compilation ''True Album Akina 95 Best''. Chart performance "Gekka" peaked at No. 8 on Oricon's weekly singles chart and sold over 137,400 copies. Akina Nakamori
is a Japanese Singing, singer and Actor, actress. She is one of the most popular and best-selling artists in Japan. Akina achieved national recognition after winning the 1981 season of the talent show ''Star Tanjō!''. Her debut single "Slow Motion (Akina Nakamori song), Slow Motion" was released to moderate success, peaking at number thirty on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart. Gorō Matsui
is a Japanese lyricist born 11 December 1957 in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, though he considers Tokyo to be his hometown. Beginning with participation in the Yamaha Popular Song Contests, he made his debut writing the lyrics for the 1981 Chage and Aska album . Matsui then began writing lyrics for groups such as Anzen Chitai, Kyosuke Himuro, and others, becoming one of the more popular lyricists for a variety of rock bands. He has now written the lyrics for over 2000 songs. Since the late 1980s, most of the lyrics for the music released by Anzen Chitai has been written by Matsui. As of today, Matsui is under the management of Avex Group, Japan's biggest independent record label. He serves as a resident songwriter for the said company. MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records.
