Garad Mukhtar Garad Ali Burale ( so, Garaad Mukhtaar Garaad Cali Buraalle)is one of the traditional leaders in the Sool region. Biography Mukhtar's father Ali founded and led a new community in Dharkayn Geenyo in July 1999. Mukhtar was born in Dharkayn Geenyo at the end of the 20th century. Installed as Garad In February 2018, his father Garad Ali Burale Hassan died. On March 12, 2020, in Dharkayn Geenyo, Mukhtar was officially installed as Garad of Qayaad. Mukhtar's inauguration was attended by dignitaries from Puntland, Somaliland, and the Somali regional government of Ethiopia. Somaliland's Minister of Information, Suleiman Yusuf Ali, stated this place is within Somaliland. The deputy minister of the Puntland Ministry of Women's Affairs stated this place belongs to Puntland. Garad ( Harari: ገራድ, , , Oromo: ''Garaada'') is a term used to refer to a clan leader or regional administrator. It was used primarily by Muslims in the Horn of Africa that were associated with Islamic states, most notably the Adal Sultanate. Etymology The origin of the term ''Garad'' is uncertain. According to Enrico Cerulli, Garad originates from the era of the Adal emirate. Garad denotes a headman within a ''"Gaar"'' (clan). Abdi Garad or Qayaad ( so, Cabdi Garaad) Full Name:'' ’Abdi Shirshore Habarwa Abdullah Muse Said Saleh Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti'' is a sub-clan that is part of the Dulbahante clan-family. The nickname "Qayaad" was supposedly the name of a Galla chief who formerly controlled the clan's territory and whom the clan's forefather killed in battle. The Dhulbahante ( so, Dhulbahante, ar, دلبةنتئ) is a Somali clan family, part of the Harti clan which itself belongs to the largest Somali clan-family — the Darod. Dharkayn Geenyo (Dharkayngeenyo, Darkeyn Genyo) is a town in the southern Sool region of Somalia. Overview It is located on the Somaliland-Ethiopia border. Dharkayn Geenyo is a historical town, it was an important border post during the Siad Barre government period with one of the biggest Somali military bases,. Sool ( so, Sool, ar, صول) is an administrative region ('' gobol'') in south eastern Somaliland/north western Somalia. It borders Togdheer to the west, Sanaag to the north, Ethiopia to the south and Nugal, Bari to the east. Its capital city is Las Anod.
