Géla Babluani
Géla Babluani ( ka, გელა ბაბლუანი) is a Georgian– French film director. Babluani was born in Tbilisi, son of prominent director Temur Babluani. At 17 years of age, he and his three siblings were sent to study in France. His first short film, ''A Fleur de Peau'' (2002), received critical appraise. His first feature-length film is '' 13 Tzameti'', won the World Cinema Jury Prize for a Dramatic motion picture at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2006 he directed the film '' L'héritage'' with his father about several people from France who visit Tbilisi for an inheritance. Temur Babluani ( ka, თემურ ბაბლუანი) (born 20 March 1948) is a Georgian film director, script writer, and actor. Bebluani was born in the mountainous Svanetian village of Chaguri in the Georgian SSR. He graduated from Tbilisi State Theater Institute in 1979, being tutored by Tengiz Abuladze and Irakli Kvirikadze. He performed in the Soviet-era movies ''Our Youth'' (ღიმილის ბიჭები, 1969), ''Earth, This Is Your Son'' (მშობლიურო ჩემო მიწავ, 1980), and ''Cucaracha'' (კუკარაჩა, 1982); and directed ''The Flight of Sparrows'' (ბეღურების გადაფრენა, 1980), and ''The Brother'' (ძმა, 1981). ''13'' is a 2011 American psychological crime thriller film directed by Géla Babluani (who also directed the original), stars Sam Riley, Ray Winstone, 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham. It is a remake of the 2005 Georgian-French film '' 13 Tzameti''. Plot Vincent "Vince" Ferro overhears people talking about a dead man who was going to start a well-paid job. Ferro, in need of money, steals an envelope containing the instructions for the job. He arrives at an event in a secluded place. He is ordered to strip, and his boot heels are cut off, in order to check for surveillance equipment. The organizers accept him for the job instead of the dead man. The job is participation in a series of Russian roulette games. There are several participants, identified by number. In each round, the participants have to spin the cylinder of their revolver, and shoot when the light of a special light bulb is switched on.
