Guðmundur Kristjánsson (golfer)
Guðmundur Agust Kristjánsson (born 7 October 1992) is an Icelandic professional golfer and European Tour player. Early life and amateur career Kristjánsson grew up in Reykjavík, Iceland. He won the Icelandic Junior Matchplay Championship in 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009, and in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010 he won the Icelandic Junior Strokeplay Championship. He played his first event abroad in 2007 when he was 14, and three years later he won the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy at Royal St George's Golf Club in England. Kristjánsson attended college at East Tennessee State University between 2012 and 2016, and played golf with the East Tennessee State Buccaneers men's golf team. He roomed with Adrian Meronk and won multiple times, and represented the school in the NCAA National Championship. He turned professional after graduating with a degree in Physics in 2016. The Swedish PGA Championship for men is a golf tournament played annually in Sweden since 1970. It has been an event on the Swedish Golf Tour schedule since 1984 and the Nordic Golf League since 1999. History From its beginning in 1970, it was a championship for members of the PGA of Sweden. Since 1986, the tournament has been open to foreign players. The tournament was part of the Challenge Tour from 1990 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2005. World Amateur Golf Ranking
The World Amateur Golf Ranking for men was introduced by The R&A, the governing body of the sport of golf outside the United States and Mexico, on 23 January 2007. It is based on the results of over 2,600 amateur tournaments per year (and amateurs participating in certain professional events) and is updated each Wednesday. Rankings are based on the players' average performances in counting events over a rolling period. This period was 52 weeks initially but was gradually expanded during 2016 to 104 weeks, similar to those of the Official World Golf Ranking. Like the Official World Golf Ranking for male professional golfers, the amateur ranking was initiated by The R&A to provide a more reliable means of selecting an appropriate field for one of its tournaments. 2016 Eisenhower Trophy
The 2016 Eisenhower Trophy took place 21–24 September at the Mayakoba El Camaleón Golf Club and the Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club on the Riviera Maya, south of Cancun, Mexico. It was the 30th World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy and the second to be held in Mexico. Format The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 72 three-man teams. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team played two rounds on the two courses. The leading teams played at the Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club on the third day and at the Mayakoba El Camaleón Golf Club on the final day. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round.
