2011 European Amateur Team Championship
The 2011 European Amateur Team Championship took place 5–9 July at Oceânico Golf in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal on its Victoria Course. It was the 29th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 2004. In 2016, Dom Pedro Golf acquired the Victoria Course and four other Vilamoura courses from Oceânico Golf. Format Each team consisted of 6 players, playing two rounds of stroke-play over two days, counting the five best scores each day for each team. The eight best teams formed flight A, in knock-out match-play over the next three days. The teams were seeded based on their positions after the stroke play. The first placed team was drawn to play the quarter final against the eight placed team, the second against the seventh, the third against the sixth and the fourth against the fifth. Vilamoura
Vilamoura is a coastal resort in the Loulé municipality in Algarve, Portugal. It is one of the three corners of Algarve's Golden Triangle. Vilamoura comprises one of the largest single tourist complexes in Europe and with about 2,000 hectares of land. The nearest airport is in Faro. The area previously hosted the annual Almond Blossom Cross Country competition between 1996 and 2003, and the same course was selected as the venue for the 2000 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. History The resort developed around a small harbour, flanked by sandy beaches and close to the Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila. Lukas Nemecz (born 17 August 1989) is an Austrian professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. On the 2021 Challenge Tour, he was runner-up at the Italian Challenge, the German Challenge, and the Hopps Open de Provence. } Tapio Pulkkanen (born 21 May 1990) is a Finnish professional golfer, who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2015 Nordic Golf League and the 2017 Challenge Tour Order of Merit. Steven Brown (born 7 May 1987) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2019 Portugal Masters. Amateur career Brown won the 2011 English Amateur. Andrew Michael Sullivan (born 19 May 1987) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Amateur career Sullivan had a successful amateur career before turning professional. Sebastian Cappelen (born 14 April 1990) is a Danish professional golfer. Cappelen played college golf at the University of Arkansas where he was a four-time All-American and won four times including the 2013 SEC Championship. Thomas Løvendahl Sørensen (; born 12 June 1976) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Sørensen started his career with his local side Odense BK. After impressing on loan at Vejle Boldklub and Svendborg he was signed by English side Sunderland in 1998. Mads Søgaard (born 13 December 2000) is a Danish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Belleville Senators in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL).
