Guy Eckstine
Guy Eckstine is an artist manager and record producer, known for his tenure as A&R executive at Verve Records in the 1990s. With jazz keyboardist Herbie Hancock, Eckstine co-produced the Hancock album '' The New Standard.'' After Verve, Eckstine was senior vice president at MP3.com, then in 2001 he started his own artist development company. Eckstine is the president and founder of Iconique Music Group, an artist management company. Family Eckstine was born in 1956 to American jazz/pop singer Billy Eckstine and his wife Carolle Drake, an actress and model. Eckstine's siblings include four older brothers and two younger sisters. Eddy Grant
Edmond Montague Grant (born 5 March 1948) is a Guyanese-British singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known for his genre-blending sound; his music has blended elements of pop, British rock, soul, funk, reggae, electronic music, African polyrhythms, and Latin music genres such as samba, among many others. In addition to this, he also helped to pioneer the genre of "Ringbang". He was a founding member of the Equals, one of the United Kingdom's first racially-mixed pop groups who are best remembered for their million-selling UK chart-topper, the Grant-penned " Baby, Come Back". ''Straight to the Point'' is the second album by jazz saxophonist Art Porter Jr., released in June 1993. The album represents a continuation of the smooth jazz and jazz fusion sound that Porter had established in 1992 with '' Pocket City'', and which he would continue on both of his subsequent albums: ''Undercover'' and ''Lay Your Hands On Me''. Zan Stewart reviewed the album for ''Los Angeles Times'', saying it had "solid moments... but just not enough of them." ''Straight to the Point'' entered ''Billboard'' Top R&B chart on July 10, 1993, at number 75, and at the same time it was listed on the Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart, where it stayed for the next 26 weeks. Christopher Stephen Botti ( ; born October 12, 1962) is an award-winning American trumpeter and composer. Wayne Shorter
Wayne Shorter (born August 25, 1933) is an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Shorter came to prominence in the late 1950s as a member of, and eventually primary composer for, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. In the 1960s, he joined Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet, and then co-founded the jazz fusion band Weather Report. He has recorded over 20 albums as a bandleader. Verve Forecast Records
Verve Forecast is a record label formed as a division of Verve Records to concentrate on pop, rock, and folk music. Founding Jerry Schoenbaum of Verve and Moe Asch of Folkways created Verve Folkways in 1964 to take advantage of the popularity of folk music. To broaden the label's appeal, the named was changed from Verve Folkways to Verve Forecast in 1967. Schoenbaum was president of the label. History Schoenbaum left in 1969, and Verve Forecast was closed by its parent company, MGM, in 1970. After PolyGram bought MGM, the Verve Forecast catalog was incorporated into Polydor. The label was revived in the 1990s for smooth jazz releases by Chris Botti, Jeff Lorber, and Will Downing.
