Guo Linxiang
Guo Linxiang (; September 1914 – 25 April 2010) was a general in the People's Liberation Army of China who served as political commissar of the People's Liberation Army General Logistics Department from 1973 to 1975 and political commissar of the Nanjing Military Region from 1982 to 1985. Biography Guo was born in Yongfeng County, Jiangxi, in September 1914. He became a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1933. He had served in the Red Army since 1930, serving in the Encirclement campaigns from 1930 to 1934 and the Long March from 1934 to 1936. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, he fought under deputy commander Peng Dehuai at the Hundred Regiments Offensive. Nanjing Military Region
The Nanjing Military Region () was one of the former seven military command regions for the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Its jurisdiction covers all military and armed police located in Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, and Shanghai. It also covers Taiwan, which is claimed by the People's Republic of China but administered by the Republic of China. The head of the region was Cai Yingting. This region is now part of the Eastern Theater Command. The 60th Corps was active in the Nanjing Military Region until disbanded in late 1985. ''Long Expedition'') was a military retreat undertaken by the Chinese Red Army, Red Army of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the forerunner of the People's Liberation Army, to evade the pursuit of the National Revolutionary Army, National Army of the Kuomintang, Chinese Nationalist Party (CNP/KMT). Encirclement campaigns (), officially called in Chinese Communist historiography as the Agrarian Revolutionary War were the campaigns launched by forces of the Chinese Nationalist Government against forces of the Chinese Communist Party during the early stage of the Chinese Civil War. People's Liberation Army
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the principal military force of the People's Republic of China and the armed wing of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The PLA consists of five service branches: the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force, Rocket Force, and Strategic Support Force. It is under the leadership of the Central Military Commission (CMC) with its chairman as commander-in-chief.
