Guntars Krasts (born 16 October 1957) is a Latvian politician, former Prime Minister, and former Member of the European Parliament for the single Latvia constituency. Born in Riga, he was the Minister of Economy of Latvia from December 1995 to August 1997, Prime Minister of Latvia from August 1997 to November 1998, and the Deputy Prime Minister from November 1998 to June 1999. Krasts was a member of Saeima, the Latvian parliament, from June 1999 until being elected to the European Parliament in 2004. Guntars Antoms ( lv, Guntars Antoms; born July 24, 1960, in Riga) is a Latvian lawyer and chess player who holds the FIDE title of International Master (2001). Chess career His first success came at the age of 14 when he won 4th place at the Latvian Junior Championship. Three years later he shared first place with Edvīns Ķeņģis at the Latvian Junior Championship. Antoms has been a steady participant in Latvian Chess Championship finals but in 2001 he won this tournament (ahead grandmasters Viesturs Meijers, Arturs Neikšāns, Jānis Klovāns, Zigurds Lanka, Ilmārs Starostīts). Guntars Silagailis (born 31 August 1984) is a Latvian professional football coach and former player, currently managing Rēzeknes BJSS in the Latvian First League. He played as a striker. Career Early career In the early part of his career he played for numerous clubs in Latvia including his hometown club FK Rezekne and top Latvian side FK Ventspils. Following a short period with FK Riga Silagailis was on his way out of the country. Cork City Silagailis signed for Cork City in February 2009 and had an immediate impact on the team. He scored away against Derry on 20 March 2009 however the Rebel Army ended up losing 2–1. He scored a brace the week after in a 2–1 victory over Bray Wanderers at Turner's Cross. Guntars Deičmans (born 4 March 1983) is a Latvian former swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. He is a 2004 Olympian, and a multiple-time Latvian champion and record holder in the same stroke (both 200 and 400 m). Deicmans qualified for two swimming events at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by eclipsing FINA B-standard entry times of 2:03.77 (200 m individual medley) from the FINA World Championships in Barcelona and 4:28.44 (400 m individual medley) from the European Championships in Madrid. In the 400 m individual medley, Deicmans touched out Philippines' Miguel Molina to break a 4:30 barrier and capture a seventh spot on the second heat by four seconds, in a time of 4:29.17. Guntars Mankus (born 5 July 1969) is a Latvian orienteer, rogainer and adventure racer. At the 5th World Rogaining Championships in Lesná, Czech Republic in 2002 he won a gold medal and the title of the World Rogaining Champion in Mixed Open category in team with Anita Liepina and Raimonds Lapiņš. At 6th World Rogaining Championships in Arizona, United States in 2004 the same team won a bronze medal in Mixed Open category.
