Gunners Pond
Gunners Pond is a body of water located near Carbonear, Newfoundland and Labrador on the Avalon peninsula. The pond is approximately long and wide. It is accessible through a road from Carbonear and a bike trail connecting to Fox Farm Road. In the northwestern end of the pond, there is a section nicknamed "Tub's Harbour". It was nicknamed by local residents. There are 20 dwellings on the pond home to full-time residents and others are used as cabins. Water flows into ''Gunners Pond'' from ''McCarthy's Pond'' and ''The Bower'', while ''Gunners Pond'' flows into ''London Pond''. Avalon Peninsula
The Avalon Peninsula (french: Péninsule d'Avalon) is a large peninsula that makes up the southeast portion of the island of Newfoundland. It is in size. The peninsula is home to 270,348 people, about 52% of Newfoundland's population, according to the 2016 Canadian Census. The peninsula is the location of St. John's, the provincial capital and largest city. It is connected to the main section of the island by the wide Isthmus of Avalon. The peninsula protrudes into the rich fishing zones near the Grand Banks. Carbonear
Carbonear is a town on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It overlooks the west side of Conception Bay and had a history long tied to fishing and shipbuilding. Since the late 20th century, its economy has changed to emphasize education, health care, retail, and industry. As of 2021, there were 4,696 people in the community. The Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly is the unicameral deliberative assembly of the General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It meets in the Confederation Building in St. John's. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the King of Canada in Right of Newfoundland and Labrador, represented by the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador. The governing party sits on the left side of the speaker of the House of Assembly as opposed to the traditional right side of the speaker. This tradition dates back to the 1850s as the heaters in the Colonial Building were located on the left side. Steve Crocker is a Canadian politician. He was elected to represent the district of Carbonear-Trinity-Bay de Verde in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly in a 2014 by-election, and re-elected in 2015. He is a member of the Liberal Party. Crocker served as Minister of Fisheries, and subsequently as Minister of Transportation and Works in the Ball government. Crocker was re-elected in the 2019 provincial election. On August 19, 2020, Crocker was appointed Minister of Justice and Public Safety, President of Treasury Board, and Government House Leader in the Furey government. Kenneth Joseph McDonald (born June 1959) is a Canadian politician who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Avalon, and the former mayor of Conception Bay South, the second largest municipality in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Municipal politics McDonald was Conception Bay South's councillor for Ward 3 from 1993-1996 and from 2009-2013. McDonald unsuccessfully ran for mayor in 2005 against Woodrow French, coming second out of four candidates. On September 24, 2013, McDonald defeated French 3273 votes to 1703 during that year's municipal elections. In April 2015, McDonald threatened to block Nalcor Energy's heavy trucks from using roads in Conception Bay South during the construction at Muskrat Falls for the Lower Churchill Project.
