Steve Crocker (politician)
Steve Crocker is a Canadian politician. He was elected to represent the district of Carbonear-Trinity-Bay de Verde in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly in a 2014 by-election, and re-elected in 2015. He is a member of the Liberal Party. Crocker served as Minister of Fisheries, and subsequently as Minister of Transportation and Works in the Ball government. Crocker was re-elected in the 2019 provincial election. On August 19, 2020, Crocker was appointed Minister of Justice and Public Safety, President of Treasury Board, and Government House Leader in the Furey government. Crocker was re-elected in the 2021 provincial election. He was appointed Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation and Government House Leader. Heart's Delight-Islington
Heart's Delight-Islington is a town on the south side of Trinity Bay in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, located on Newfoundland and Labrador Route 80. The Post Office was established in 1954. The first Postmistress was Maggie Chislett. Location The town is located on Route 80 between Cavendish and Heart's Desire. It is about 15 minutes from the Pitcher's Pond Golf Course, and 30 minutes from Carbonear in Conception Bay. Etymology There are severals stories about the origin of the name "Heart's Delight." One is that it was named by a traveler who arrived in the cove and found his "Heart's Delight" there:...the name Heart's Delight was given to create a favourable impression. Charlene Johnson , is a Canadian former politician in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Johnson represented the district of Trinity-Bay de Verde for the Progressive Conservative Party from 2003 to 2014. Johnson served as a minister in the cabinets of Danny Williams, Kathy Dunderdale and Tom Marshall. Dwight Ball (born December 21, 1957) is a Canadian politician who was the 13th premier of Newfoundland and Labrador from December 14, 2015, to August 19, 2020, and an MHA. 2015 Newfoundland And Labrador General Election
The 2015 Newfoundland and Labrador general election, held on November 30, 2015, elected members of the 48th General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Progressive Conservative Party which had governed since 2003 election, was defeated by the Liberal Party, which won a majority in the new assembly. The election had been scheduled for October 13, 2015, under Newfoundland and Labrador's House of Assembly Act, mandating a fixed election day on the second Tuesday in October in the fourth calendar year after the previous election. However, the House of Assembly amended the act in June 2015, to delay the election until November 30, 2015, so that the election campaign would not overlap with the federal election scheduled on October 19, 2015.
