Austrian car number plates are mandatory vehicle registration plates displaying the registration mark (german: Kennzeichen) of motor vehicles in Austria. They are used to verify street legality, proof of a valid liability insurance and to identify and recognise the vehicle. Otto Prechtler
Johann Otto Prechtler (21 January 1813 – 6 August 1881) was an Austrian civil servant, and a poet, dramatist and librettist. Life Prechtler was born in Grieskirchen, Upper Austria in modest circumstances; his mother Marie was a poet, and had some stage plays performed at a festival in Salzburg. Otto Prechtler studied in Linz and Vienna, and in 1834 he became a civil servant at the General Court Chamber (''Allgemeine Hofkammer'') in Vienna. Franz Födermayr (13 September 1933 – 4 April 2020) was an Austrian musicologist. Life Born in Grieskirchen, Upper Austria, Födermayr studied musicology from 1954 at the University of Vienna with Erich Schenk (doctorate 1964). From 1964 to 1974 he worked as a university assistant at the musicological institute of the university, and in 1972 he received his habilitation. From 1973 he held the professorship for Ethnomusicology, comparative musicology at the University of Vienna, where he became ''emeritus'' in 1999. Ferdinand Von Sammern-Frankenegg
Ferdinand von Sammern-Frankenegg (17 March 1897 – 20 September 1944) was an Austrian SS functionary during the Nazi era. He was born in Grieskirchen. Von Sammern-Frankenegg served in World War I as a member of the Kaiserschützen, then of the K.u.k. Feldjäger and then after Austria-Hungary had formally surrendered, in the German Freikorps Oberland and the Steirischer Heimatschutz. Ferdinand von Sammern-Frankenegg earned his PhD in legal studies at the University of Innsbruck in 1922.
