Griesbach, Edmonton
Griesbach is a developing community in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This mainly residential neighbourhood was formerly the site of a military base, part of CFB Griesbach. The land was transferred to Canada Lands Company to redevelop it. It remains a project of the Crown corporation. The neighbourhood is bounded on the north by 153 Avenue, on the east by 97 Street, on the south by 137 Avenue, and on the west by Castle Downs Road. Travel north along 97 Street provides access to the current CFB Edmonton. Travel south along 97 Street provides access to the downtown core and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. The area is expected to be accessible by the Metro Line LRT in the future. Shopping and services are available just east of the neighbourhood at Northgate Centre and North Town Centre. Northgate Centre
Northgate Centre is a shopping mall located in the northern part of Edmonton, Alberta. It contains more than 70 stores and services. Its main anchor tenants are Marshalls, Safeway, and Walmart. History The mall first opened in April 1965 as Northgate Shopping Centre and was home to the Woodward's department store. A major renovation was completed in 1986, adding a second storey and twin two level parkades on the northwest and southwest corners, and the mall was renamed Northwood Mall. In 1998, First Capital Realty took ownership of the mall and a year later began a three-year redevelopment that was completed in 2002. Evansdale is a neighbourhood in northeast Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It and the Northmount neighbourhood to the south comprise Edmonton's Dickinsfield community. Carlisle is a residential neighbourhood in the Castledowns area of north west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The neighbourhood is named for Carlisle Castle in England. Beaumaris ( ) is a residential neighbourhood in the Castledowns area of northwest Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is named for Beaumaris Castle in Wales. The neighbourhood is bounded on the south by 153 Avenue, on the east by 97 Street, on the west by Castledowns Road, and on the north by Beaumaris Road and 160 Avenue. The Castledowns Recreation Centre is located at the south east corner of the neighbourhood. The Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL) is a non-profit organization that acts as an administrative body to support community leagues throughout Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and is officially recognized by city council as the coordinating body for all community leagues in the city.
