Greenridge Secondary School
Greenridge Secondary School (GSS) is a co-educational government secondary school located in Bukit Panjang, Singapore. Officially opened in 2023, the school was formed after the merger of Greenridge Secondary School (GSS) and Fajar Secondary School (FJS). History Greenridge Secondary School (1964 — 2022) GSS was established in 1964 as Dunearn Secondary Technical School (DSTS) at Hillcrest Road with an enrolment of 900. On 14 May 1965, it was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Toh Chin Chye. As part of the relocation plans, DSTS moved out of Hillcrest Road Estate and was renamed Greenridge Secondary School. It relocated again to the edge of Bukit Panjang New Town in 1992 and two years later, on 16 July 1994, Lee Yiok Seng, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC, declared the school open. Bukit Panjang is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. A portion of this town is situated on a low-lying elongated hill. The planning area is bounded by Bukit Batok to the west, Choa Chu Kang to the northwest, Sungei Kadut to the north, the Central Water Catchment to the east and Bukit Timah to the south. Bukit Panjang New Town is located at the northern portion of the planning area. Bukit Panjang has an average elevation of 36m/118 ft. The town is categorised into seven subzones, namely Jelebu, Bangkit, Fajar, Saujana, Senja, Dairy Farm and Nature Reserve. Bukit Panjang is a quieter town compared to some of the older housing estates such as Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio and other more publicly discussed towns due to its lower population, but it has seen major developments in recent years. Toh Chin Chye
Toh Chin Chye ( zh, s=杜进才, p=Dù Jìncái; 10 December 1921 – 3 February 2012) was a Singaporean politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore between 1959 and 1968. Toh is widely recognised as one of the founding fathers of Singapore. He was also one of the founders of the People's Action Party (PAP), which has governed the country continuously since independence. Toh was a prominent member of the country's first generation of political leaders after Singapore became independent in 1965. He had served as Deputy Prime Minister between 1959 and 1968, Minister for Science and Technology between 1968 and 1975, and Minister for Health between 1975 and 1981. Holland–Bukit Panjang Group Representation Constituency
The Holland–Bukit Panjang Group Representation Constituency was a Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in Singapore which only appeared in the 2001 elections. Prior to that, parts of the Cashew and Zhenghua were originally Bukit Panjang division of the Sembawang GRC and several parts of Bukit Timah (Eng Neo) were originally Tanglin division of the Kreta Ayer–Tanglin GRC. Buona Vista came from Tanjong Pagar GRC and Ulu Pandan came from Bukit Timah GRC. Fajar Secondary School
Fajar Secondary School (FJS) was a co-educational government secondary school in Bukit Panjang, Singapore. Founded in 1994, it merged with Chestnut Drive Secondary School in 2015 and merged again with Greenridge Secondary School in 2023. History In January 1994, with an enrolment of 307 students and a teaching strength of 17 teachers, Fajar Secondary School started functioning at the premises of Greenridge Secondary School with Law Ngee Seng as its first principal. It shifted to its current premises at 31 Gangsa Road in 1996. The campus was officially opened on 11 July 1998 with Saminathan Gopal as the school's second principal. Goh Mee Mee became the third principal and served from 2001 to 2007. Zhenghua Secondary School (ZSS) is a co-educational government secondary school located in Bukit Panjang, Singapore. Established on 15 December 1999, the school offers secondary education leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level examinations or the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level examinations. Most secondary schools in Singapore offer a four-year Express course (Special course for Special Assistance Plan schools) or a five-year course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level.
