Fajar Secondary School
Fajar Secondary School (FJS) was a co-educational government secondary school in Bukit Panjang, Singapore. Founded in 1994, it merged with Chestnut Drive Secondary School in 2015 and merged again with Greenridge Secondary School in 2023. History In January 1994, with an enrolment of 307 students and a teaching strength of 17 teachers, Fajar Secondary School started functioning at the premises of Greenridge Secondary School with Law Ngee Seng as its first principal. It shifted to its current premises at 31 Gangsa Road in 1996. The campus was officially opened on 11 July 1998 with Saminathan Gopal as the school's second principal. Goh Mee Mee became the third principal and served from 2001 to 2007. Ng Shok Yan was the fourth principal, serving from 2008 to 2013, while Sng Siew Hong served as the fifth principal from January 2014 to December 2015 before Chestnut Drive Secondary School was merged into Fajar Secondary School. Bukit Panjang
Bukit Panjang is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. A portion of this town is situated on a low-lying elongated hill. The planning area is bounded by Bukit Batok to the west, Choa Chu Kang to the northwest, Sungei Kadut to the north, the Central Water Catchment to the east and Bukit Timah to the south. Bukit Panjang New Town is located at the northern portion of the planning area. Bukit Panjang has an average elevation of 36m/118 ft. The town is categorised into seven subzones, namely Jelebu, Bangkit, Fajar, Saujana, Senja, Dairy Farm and Nature Reserve. Bukit Panjang is a quieter town compared to some of the older housing estates such as Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio and other more publicly discussed towns due to its lower population, but it has seen major developments in recent years. Greenridge Secondary School
Greenridge Secondary School (GSS) is a co-educational government secondary school located in Bukit Panjang, Singapore. Officially opened in 2023, the school was formed after the merger of Greenridge Secondary School (GSS) and Fajar Secondary School (FJS). History Greenridge Secondary School (1964 — 2022) GSS was established in 1964 as Dunearn Secondary Technical School (DSTS) at Hillcrest Road with an enrolment of 900. On 14 May 1965, it was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Toh Chin Chye. As part of the relocation plans, DSTS moved out of Hillcrest Road Estate and was renamed Greenridge Secondary School. It relocated again to the edge of Bukit Panjang New Town in 1992 and two years later, on 16 July 1994, Lee Yiok Seng, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC, declared the school open. This is a list of secondary schools in Singapore. Most secondary schools in Singapore offer a four-year Express course (Special course for Special Assistance Plan schools) or a five-year course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level. Some schools offer the six-year Integrated Programme, which lead to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level or International Baccalaureate Diploma. Autonomous schools have more autonomy as compared to other government-run secondary schools to plan their own curriculum and activities. However, such schools may charge additional, miscellaneous fees on top of the regular school fees paid by all students attending government or government-aided schools.
