The great sapphirewing (''Pterophanes cyanopterus'') is a species of hummingbird in the "brilliants", tribe Heliantheini in subfamily Lesbiinae. Trochilinae
Trochilinae is one of the six subfamilies that make up the hummingbird family Trochilidae. Hawking is a feeding strategy in birds involving catching flying insects in the air.
