Grand Mosque Of West Sumatra
Grand Mosque of West Sumatra ( id, Masjid Raya Sumatera Barat) is a mosque in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is the largest mosque in West Sumatra, and the second largest mosque in Sumatra. It is located in Padang Utara Subdistrict, Padang, West Sumatra. The Grand Mosque of West Sumatra is located within a complex of 40,343 square meter on the intersection of Jalan Khatib Sulaiman and Jalan Ahmad Dahlan. Construction The first stone of the construction was laid on December 21, 2007, inaugurated by the Governor of West Sumatra Province Gamawan Fauzi. Construction took a long time because of budget issues. Apart from relying on the West Sumatra's regional government budget, other strategies were used to collect funding, such as relying on donation from the people, from the private sectors, as well as from foreign governments. Sumatra is one of the Sunda Islands of western Indonesia. Gamawan Fauzi
Gamawan Fauzi (born 9 November 1957) is an Indonesian politician. He served as Minister of Home Affairs between 2009 and 2014, and as Governor of West Sumatra between 2005 and 2009. Career Fauzi was the Minister of Home Affairs in the Second United Indonesia Cabinet and head of the Department of Home Affairs in the Second United Indonesia Cabinet. He was the first non military individual that held the position since PNI cadre, Sanusi, in the late 1950s. He holds a bachelor's degree from the Andalas University School of Law in Padang. 2009 Sumatra Earthquakes
The first of the 2009 Sumatra earthquakes ( id, Gempa bumi Sumatra 2009) occurred on 30 September off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia with a moment magnitude of 7.6 at . The epicenter was west-northwest of Padang, West Sumatra, and southwest of Pekanbaru, Riau. Government and authorities confirmed 1,115 dead, 1,214 severely injured and 1,688 slightly injured. Quraysh
The Quraysh ( ar, قُرَيْشٌ) were a grouping of Arab clans that historically inhabited and controlled the city of Mecca and its Kaaba. Black Stone
The Black Stone ( ar, ٱلْحَجَرُ ٱلْأَسْوَد, ', 'Black Stone') is a rock set into the eastern corner of the Kaaba, the ancient building in the center of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is revered by Muslims as an Islamic relic which, according to Muslim tradition, dates back to the time of Adam and Eve. The stone was venerated at the Kaaba in pre-Islamic pagan times. According to Islamic tradition, it was set intact into the Kaaba's wall by the Islamic prophet Muhammad in 605 CE, five years before his first revelation.
