Gran Ciudad Del Este
The Greater Ciudad del Este is a metropolitan area in Paraguay consisting of most of the Alto Paraná Department. It is the second-largest metropolitan area in Paraguay, after the Gran Asunción, and has more than 500,000 inhabitants. In Spanish, it is referred to by various terms, including the Gran Ciudad del Este, Area Metropolitana de Ciudad del Este, and Metro Ciudad del Este. Ciudad del Este (, Spanish for Eastern City; often shortered as CDE) is the second-largest city in Paraguay and capital of the Alto Paraná Department, situated on the Paraná River. It is located 327 km from Asunción, the capital, and is adjacent to the border with Brazil, to which it is connected by the Friendship Bridge on the Paraná River. It is the largest city within the Triple Frontier region, which borders Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil and Puerto Iguazú, Argentina. Hernandarias District
Hernandarias is a district and city of the Alto Paraná Department, Paraguay. It was named after Hernando Arias de Saavedra, the first South American governor born in the Americas. It is located across the highway from the Itaipu Dam. Located 349 km from Asunción. It is known as the "Latin American Capital of Electric Power" and is part of the Gran Ciudad del Este. Minga Guazú
Minga Guazú is a city & district of the Alto Paraná Department, Paraguay. It is part of the Gran Ciudad del Este. It was formerly known as Colonia Presidente Stroessner, but was changed after the fall of the dictator Alfredo Stroessner. Minga Guazú was established in 1958 and is located in the Department of Alto Paraná, 20 km. west of the department capital, Ciudad del Este. The Guaranà International Airport is located in the city. The name Its name derives from the Quechua word "minga", which means "cooperative work for improvement" and the Guaranà word "guasu", meaning big. Alto Paraná (; ''Upper Paraná'') is a department in Paraguay. The capital is Ciudad del Este (formerly known as Puerto Presidente Stroessner, originally Puerto Flor de Lis). The Alto Paraná department has experienced tremendous economic and population growth in the past 50 years. Most of this growth has been concentrated in the department capital of Ciudad del Este, and mainly occurred after the construction of the Puente de la Amistad bridge in 1961, which connects Paraguay and Brazil.
