Graham Vigrass
Graham Saxton Vigrass (born 17 June 1989) is a Canadian former professional volleyball player. He was a member of the Canada national team, a participant at the Olympic Games (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020), and a bronze medallist at the 2017 World League Personal life Vigrass was born in Calgary, Alberta to parents Richard and Sandy Vigrass. His uncle, Don Saxton, played on the Canadian men's national volleyball team at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics, and his cousin, Ben Saxton, played beach volleyball at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. Vigrass started playing volleyball at the age of 13, and played in Calgary for the Canuck Volleyball Club and Western Canada High School during his high school years. Canada Men's National Volleyball Team
The Canada men's national volleyball team represents Canada in international volleyball competitions. They are overseen by Volleyball Canada, the governing body for volleyball in Canada. The team placed fourth place at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and three bronze medals at the Pan American Games in 1979, 1999 and 2015. They have participated in four Olympic Games, including most recently a fifth-place finish at Rio 2016, after returning to the Games following a quarter-century absence. U Sports Men's Volleyball Player Of The Year
The U Sports Men's Volleyball Player of the Year is awarded annually to the men's volleyball player of the year in U Sports (previously named Canadian Interuniversity Sport). No player has won the award more than twice and only two players have accomplished the feat ( Terry Danyluk in 1980 and 1981; Darcy Busse in 1984 and 1986). U Sports Men's Volleyball Championship
The U Sports men's volleyball championship is an annual tournament that features the top eight men's volleyball teams from among competing Canadian universities in U Sports. 11 games are played over a period of three days culminating in a national championship being awarded. The champion is awarded the Tantramar Trophy, named after the Tantramar Marshes in New Brunswick, which was donated in 1967 by Mount Allison University. The 2022 champions are the Alberta Golden Bears, who have won nine championships in program history. The Manitoba Bisons and Winnipeg Wesmen have won the most championships with both schools having won ten times. University Of Calgary Dinos
The Calgary Dinos are the athletic teams that represent the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. They were known as the "Dinosaurs" but usually referred to as the "Dinos" until 1999, when the name was officially shortened. Some of its venues are the Jack Simpson Gymnasium (basketball m/w, volleyball m/w, track and field m/w), McMahon Stadium (football, soccer m/w), Hawkings Field (field hockey), University of Calgary Aquatic Centre (swimming, often shortened to Aquatic Centre) and a 200m Running Track (cross-country and track & field practices). Western Canada High School
Western Canada High School (WCHS) is a public senior high school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It has classes for grades 10 through 12. Western is located in the 17th Avenue business district of the Lower Mount Royal community, and is the most centrally located public high school in Calgary. Beach Volleyball At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's beach volleyball tournament at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, took place at the Copacabana Stadium. The competition was held from 6 to 18 August 2016. Twenty four teams with 48 athletes around the world competed for the gold medal. Ben Saxton
Benjamin Saxton (born November 21, 1988, in Calgary, Alberta) is a Canadian beach volleyball player. Saxton has qualified to compete (along with partner Chaim Schalk) at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Career Saxton played volleyball and beach volleyball as a youth in his home town at the Canuck Stuff Volleyball Club. Together with Will Pasieka they became the 2004 Canadian U16 champions. In both 2004 and 2005 they were the Canadian U18 runners-up, but returned as the U20 Canadian champions in 2006 and also participated in the U19 World Championships. In 2007, Saxton played with Mark Ellingson in international tournaments. After Saxton had played two smaller tournaments with Martin Reader in 2008, he started with Jessi Lelliott, and in 2010 with Steve Marshall on the FIVB World Tour, but with little success. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC; french: Comité olympique canadien) is a private, non-profit organization that represents Canada at the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
