Frederick Roy Goodall (31 December 1902 – 19 January 1982) was a professional footballer, who played for Huddersfield Town for 16 years and played 25 games for England, 12 as captain. Goodall would have captained England in the first ever World Cup if they had decided to take a team to the tournament. He was widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world at that time. He was captain of Huddersfield Town throughout their most successful period, when they became the first team to win the English top flight three times in a row and dominated English football through the twenties. Reginald Goodall
Sir Reginald Goodall (13 July 1901 – 5 May 1990) was an English conductor and singing coach noted for his performances of the operas of Richard Wagner and for conducting the premieres of several operas by Benjamin Britten. Early life Goodall was born in Lincoln, and studied at the Royal College of Music and elsewhere in Europe. In 1929, he became the organist and choirmaster at St Alban's Church, Holborn. Career During the Second World War, Goodall conducted the Wessex Philharmonic, a freelance orchestra which included some ex-members of the Bournemouth Municipal Orchestra. In 1944, Goodall joined the Sadler's Wells company, forerunner of the English National Opera. An early triumph was his conducting of the premiere of Benjamin Britten's ''Peter Grimes'' in 1945. Peter Goodall (born 1949) is an Australian academic and author. In the mid-2000s he was Acting Dean of Humanities at Macquarie University in the absence of Dean Christina Slade. His substantive position was Deputy Dean of Humanities and Acting Head of the Politics and International Relations Department. By 2009 he had transferred to the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba campus where he was Dean of the Faculty of Arts. In the 1980s Goodall broadcast a series of ''Weekend University'' programs on radio station, 2SER, detailing work of George Orwell and Evelyn Waugh. Kenneth George Goodall (23 February 1947 – 17 August 2006) was an Irish rugby union and rugby league player. He was an Irish international and British Lions player and vice principal at Faughan Valley High School, which is now part of Lisneal College. He switched codes in 1970 to play for the Cumbrian rugby league club, Workington Town. He was educated at Foyle College and then read chemical engineering at Newcastle University. He made his début on the rugby pitch in a match against Australia on 21 January 1967 and subsequently played for Ireland in 19 successive matches until 14 March 1970. He was a member of City of Derry R.F.C., played for Newcastle University, club rugby for Winlaton Vulcans RFC in West Gateshead before playing for Workington.
