RMAF Gong Kedak
RMAF Gong Kedak ( ms, TUDM Gong Kedak) is an air force base operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force ( ms, Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia). It is located in Gong Kedak, Pasir Puteh District, Kelantan, Malaysia. History The RMAF Gong Kedak existed before World War II where in the early 1960s, this airbase was used by the Royal Air Force for training and then in the 1970s until 1989, the airbase was used by the Malaysian Armed Forces as a training area especially for parachute training. To strengthen national defense, especially the RMAF, the government has decided to develop RMAF Gong Kedak and for this purpose, the government started the land acquisition process for the construction of RMAF Gong Kedak in 1981. Pasir Puteh District
Pasir Puteh District is a district (jajahan) in Kelantan, Malaysia. The town of Pasir Putih is situated on the bank of Semerak River, about 30 kilometers to the south of Kota Bharu. Pasir Puteh district borders Terengganu to its south-east. History Before this place was known as Pasir Puteh, it was known as Pangkalan Limbungan. The town of Pasir Puteh derived its name after Sultan Muhammad IV visited. The Sultan was very impressed to see the white sand shining along the riverbanks. Hence in 1911, the Sultan declared the name of this place as Pasir Puteh, which meant white sand. This is the place where a Kelantan warrior, Tok Janggut, raised an army of Malay warriors to oppose the introduction of taxation in Kelantan. The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF, ms, Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia; TUDM; Jawi: ) was formed on 2 June 1958 as the Royal Federation of Malaya Air Force (; ). However, its roots can be traced back to the Malayan Auxiliary Air Force formations of the British Royal Air Force in then-colonial British Malaya.
