Goheung
Goheung County (''Goheung-gun'') is a county in Jeollanam-do Province, South Korea. Naro Space Center The Naro Space Center was completed during 2008 in southern Goheung and is operated by the state-run Korea Aerospace Research Institute. The space center includes a launch pad, a control tower, rocket assembly and test facilities, facilities for satellite control testing and assembly, a media center, an electric power station, a space experience hall (visitor center) and a landing field. Modern history On New Year's Day in 1963, some of the townships were classed from Bongrae-myeon to other myeons such as Dohwa-myeon, Podu-myeon and so on. Goheung Hyanggyo
The Goheung Hyanggyo was founded in 1441, during the reign of Joseon Dynasty King Sejong. In 1597 the school was heavily damaged during the Second Japanese Invasion. In 1695 it was moved to the present site and restored with the help of Confucian students from Seongdong town. The hyanggyo consists of two parts: first, the Myeongnyundang (lecture hall), which contains the Oesam outer gate and the east and west dormitories. The second is the ritual area that includes the Naesam inner gate, Daeseongjeon (Confucian shrine hall), and the east and west Mu. This style of structure forms a Jeonhakhumyo, which means that lecture hall is placed in the front and the ritual hall in the rear. Jeonhakhumyo-type hyanggyos are situated on gently-sloping sites to emphasize the sacredness of the Confucian shrine. Sujik House, next to the Hyanggyo, houses Confucian students. Ssangchungsa
Ssangchungsa is a shrine in Doyang (known also as Nokdong by many) on the southwesternmost point of the peninsula that comprises Goheung County South Korea. The shrine commemorates and is dedicated to the memories of two Joseon Dynasty era naval officer war heroes. A memorial worship service is held here every April. Ssangchungsa is designated Monument #128 History The original shrine dedicated to Yi Dae-won was constructed in 1587 on Nokdo Island but was destroyed during the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592–1598). The shrine was subsequently rebuilt and rededicated to both Chung Wun and Yi Dae-won. Ssangchungsa's main worship hall we see today was constructed in 1946 with the lecture hall being added in 1957. South Jeolla Province (; ''Jeollanam-do''; ), also known as Jeonnam, is a province of South Korea.
