Gladiators (Australian Series 2)
The second series of ''Gladiators'' began airing on Seven Network on 2 September 1995. Fifteen episodes were filmed for this series. Once again the shows were filmed at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre between 5 July and 19 July. Kimberley Joseph returned to host along with Mike Hammond, who replaced Aaron Pedersen. Play-by-play commentary was again performed by Tony Schibeci. John Alexander was unable to return due to his commitments to Wimbledon and was replaced by Mike Whitney. Once again, John Forsyth acted as assistant referee and the Kix cheerleaders returned to perform in the background of the events. In Heats 2 and 8, Forsyth was absent for unknown reasons, and was replaced by Neil Waldron for those Heats. Winners of the heats received a Sony PlayStation and sound system with CDs. Kimberley Joseph
Kimberley Joseph (born August 30, 1973) is a Canadian Australian actress who is based in the United States. Joseph was born in Canada, brought up on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast in Australia and educated in Switzerland. After returning to Australia, she began a degree at Bond University but dropped out at the age of 19 when she was cast in the soap opera ''Paradise Beach''. She had no formal acting training but appeared in the soap for the 18 months it was produced. The Seven Network (commonly known as Channel Seven or simply Seven) is a major Australian commercial free-to-air Television broadcasting in Australia, television network. Gladiators (1995 Australian TV Series)
''Gladiators'' is an Australian television series which aired on Saturday nights on the Seven Network from 29 April 1995 until 12 October 1996 almost consecutively for eighteen months. It was based on the popular franchise of the same name, which started with '' American Gladiators'' in 1989. However the Australian show was more heavily based on the UK version with events, format and even music being used from the British show. It was revived in 2008. All three series of the show were filmed at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in 1995, and was hosted by Kimberley Joseph and Aaron Pedersen, with Mike Hammond replacing Pedersen after the first series. Brisbane Entertainment Centre
The Brisbane Entertainment Centre is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in the Brisbane suburb of Boondall, Queensland, Australia. The centre is managed by ASM Global. The arena has an array of seating plans which facilitate the comfort of its users, subject to performance. Specific seating plans are usually allocated, depending on the performance and the size of its audience. The general seating arrangements are end stage mode, "in the round" and intimate mode, which only uses half of the arena. Aaron Pedersen
Aaron Pedersen is an Aboriginal Australian television and film actor. He is known for many film and television roles, in particular as Detective Jay Swan in the film '' Mystery Road'', its sequel '' Goldstone'', and spin-off television series. He has been nominated for many and won several acting awards, including the 2021 AACTA Award for International Award for Best Actor in a Series. Early life Pedersen, who is of Arrernte and Arabana descent, was born and grew up in Alice Springs, one of eight children. John Alexander (tennis)
John Gilbert Alexander (born 4 July 1951) is a former Australian politician and former professional tennis player. As a tennis player, Alexander reached a career-high singles rank of No. 8 in the world in 1975. He reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open singles on three occasions, and won the doubles in 1975 and 1982. He also played in the Australian team that won the 1977 Davis Cup. After the end of his playing career, Alexander worked as a tennis commentator and managed various sports-related businesses. Mark McGaw
Mark McGaw (born 17 May 1964) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. Nicknamed Sparkles, he achieved national and state representative honors in the sport and following his retirement became one of the Gladiators in the Australian version of the TV show. McGaw's usual position was at . McGaw is also the current coach of the North Sydney Bears SG Ball team for 2016.
