Gjæslingan Lighthouse
Gjæslingan Lighthouse () is a coastal lighthouse in Nærøysund Municipality in Trøndelag, Norway. It was established in 1877, was reinforced in 1961 and automated in 1987. Gjæslingan lighthouse stands on the Haraldsøykråka islet which is part of the Sør-Gjæslingan island group on the north side of the Folda, Trøndelag, Foldafjord. The white building consists of a high red iron tower on a stone base. The white light flashes once every ten seconds, and it can be seen for about . The lighthouse also emits a "G" Racon signal. Trøndelag (; or is a county and coextensive with the Trøndelag region (also known as ''Midt-Norge'' or ''Midt-Noreg,'' "Mid-Norway") in the central part of Norway. Folda, Trøndelag
Folda is a firth and a fjord in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located within Flatanger Municipality, Namsos Municipality, and Nærøysund Municipality. The large wide firth is about long which then narrows into a fjord which is about long. The narrower fjord part of Folda is often called the ''Foldfjorden'' or ''Innerfolda''. Most of the fjord is very narrow, some places with steep cliffs. It has the largest length to width factor among Norway's fjords. The fjord is crossed by the Norwegian County Road 17 road using the Folda Bridge at the village of Foldereid. Spruce forests cover most areas around the fjord. Lighthouses In Norway
The coast of Norway is long and there have been a total of 212 lighthouses along it, but no more than 154 have ever been operational at the same time. The first, Lindesnes Lighthouse, opened in 1655; the newest Lighthouse, Anda Lighthouse, was finished in 1932. The first lighthouses were private operations, but in 1821 the government made the Channel and Harbor Inspector responsible for lighthouses in Norway. A dedicated Lighthouse Administration was set up in 1841. The lighthouses are today mostly automated and since 1974, run by the Norwegian Coastal Administration. Two lightvessels had been operated along the Norwegian coast. "Enigheden" off Ålesund from 1856 was replaced with Lepsøyrev Lighthouse in 1879, and "Ildjernsflu" moored off Nesodden from 1914 until it was scrapped in 1968. Sør-Gjæslingan is an archipelago in Nærøysund Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island group is located in at the entrance to the Folda fjord, about to the southwest of the town of Rørvik and about to the southeast of the Nordøyan islands. Sør-Gjæslingan includes about 80 small islands, islets, and skerries. The largest of which are Heimværet, Flatholmen, Kalholmen, Nakken, Sæternesholmen, Sørenskjær, Lyngnesholmen, Store Langøy, and Lille Langøy. The Gjæslingan Lighthouse is located on the small islet of Haraldsøykråka. History Sør-Gjæslingan was previously the largest fishing village on the Namdalen coast during the cod fishing season.
