Lighthouses In Norway
The coast of Norway is 100,915 km long and there have been a total of 212 lighthouses along it, but no more than 154 have ever been operational at the same time. The first, Lindesnes Lighthouse, opened in 1655; the newest Lighthouse, Anda, was finished in 1932. The first Lighthouses were private operations, but in 1821 the government made the Channel and Harbor Inspector responsible for Lighthouses in Norway. A dedicated Lighthouse Administration was set up in 1841. The Lighthouses are today mostly automated and since 1974, run by the Norwegian Coastal Administration. Two lightvessels had been operated along the Norwegian coast. "Enigheden" off Ålesund from 1856 vas replaced with Lepsøyrev Lighthouse in 1879, and "Ildjernsflu" moored off Nesodden from 1914 until it was scrapped in 1968. Færder Lighthouse
Færder Lighthouse ( no, Færder fyr) is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Færder in Vestfold og Telemark, Norway. The lighthouse is located on the archipelago Tristein, three small islands in the outer Oslofjord. It was first lit in 1857 as a replacement of the former Store Færder Lighthouse. Kråkenes Lighthouse
Kråkenes Lighthouse ( no, Kråkenes fyr) is a coastal lighthouse in Kinn Municipality in Vestland, Norway. It is located on a rocky, knife-like promontory jutting out of the northwestern tip of the island of Vågsøy. History It was first lit in 1906 and automated in 1986. The original lighthouse was destroyed by fire following an Allied air raid in 1945. The current lighthouse now houses a restaurant and has rooms available for overnight accommodations. The tall lighthouse is attached to the seaward side of a -story wood keeper's house built into the rocky shoreline. The building is white and the lighthouse portion has a red roof. Hordaland
Hordaland () was a county in Norway, bordering Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Telemark, and Rogaland counties. Hordaland was the third largest county, after Akershus and Oslo, by population. Marstein Lighthouse ( no, Marstein fyrstasjon) is an active lighthouse in the municipality of Austevoll, in Vestland county, Norway. It is located on the small island of Store Marstein just west of the island of Stora Kalsøy on the south side of the entrance to the Korsfjorden and therefore assists ships going to both the city of Bergen and to the Hardangerfjorden. Røværsholmen Lighthouse ( no, Røværsholmen fyr) is a coastal lighthouse located in the Røvær islands in the municipality of Haugesund in Rogaland county, Norway. History The lighthouse was established in 1892 and automated in 1975. The lighthouse was listed as a protected site in 1998. The lighthouse sits about northwest of the town of Haugesund. Tungenes Lighthouse
Tungenes Lighthouse ( no, Tungenes fyr) is a coastal lighthouse located in the municipality of Randaberg in Rogaland county, Norway. The lighthouse is situated at the north end of the Tungenes headland on the tip of Stavanger Peninsula just to the north of the city of Stavanger. The lighthouse is no longer in use, but it is used as a fine arts center and lighthouse/maritime museum. There is also a cafe in one of the buildings. Vest-Agder (; "West Agder") was one of 18 counties (''fylker'') in Norway up until 1 January 2020, when it was merged with Aust-Agder to form Agder county. Oksøy Lighthouse
Oksøy Lighthouse ( no, Oksøy fyr) is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Kristiansand in Agder county, Norway.
