Give My Head Peace
''Give My Head Peace'' is a satirical television comedy series on BBC Northern Ireland that pokes fun at political parties, paramilitary groups and the sectarian divide in Northern Ireland. The programme is written by Tim McGarry, Damon Quinn and Michael McDowell, also known as " The Hole in the Wall Gang", who also perform as the characters. Episodes are recorded in front of a live studio audience at the BBC Blackstaff Studio A in Belfast. Background The concept originated on BBC Radio Ulster music programme '' Across The Line'' in the late 1980s, as a five-minute slot. The radio version used many of the characters and plot ideas used in the later TV series. Tim McGarry
Tim McGarry ( ga, Tadhg Mag Fhearaigh) is an Irish people, Irish comedian and actor from Belfast, North Belfast in Northern Ireland. He was educated at St Malachy's College, Belfast. He is a member of the comedy group Hole in the Wall Gang (comedy), Hole In The Wall Gang, and played "Da", a fictional Sinn Féin spokesman (later Member of the Legislative Assembly (Northern Ireland), MLA), in the comedy series ''Give My Head Peace''. He has also hosted several radio programmes on BBC Radio Ulster, including weekly comedy quiz ''The Blame Game (radio), The Blame Game''. Across The Line (radio Show)
''Across the Line'' is a programme on BBC Radio Ulster (92– 95 FM). It broadcasts Monday, 9.30pm to 11.00 pm, presented by Gemma Bradley. It is also known for its popular website at www.bbc.co.uk/atl. Support for Northern Ireland music and musicians in central to the Across the Line editorial brief. Since its inception in 1986 as The Bottom Line, the programme has championed Northern Irish rock music and in particular bands from Northern Ireland. Martin McGuiness
James Martin Pacelli McGuinness ( ga, Séamus Máirtín Pacelli Mag Aonghusa; 23 May 1950 – 21 March 2017) was an Irish republican politician and statesman from Sinn Féin and a leader within the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) during The Troubles. McGuinness was the deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland from May 2007 to January 2017. McGuinness served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mid Ulster from 1997 until his resignation in 2013. Like all Sinn Féin MPs, McGuinness followed abstentionism in the Westminster Parliament. Ian Paisley
Ian Richard Kyle Paisley, Baron Bannside, (6 April 1926 – 12 September 2014) was a Northern Irish loyalist politician and Protestant religious leader who served as leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) from 1971 to 2008 and First Minister of Northern Ireland from 2007 to 2008. Paisley became a Protestant evangelical minister in 1946 and remained one for the rest of his life. In 1951 he co-founded the Reformed fundamentalist Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster and was its leader until 2008. William John Neeson (born 7 June 1952) is an actor from Northern Ireland. ''Dry Your Eyes'' was a Northern Irish sketch show which aired on BBC One NI in 2006, and was created by the Hole in the Wall Gang, the makers of one of Northern Ireland's most successful shows ''Give My Head Peace''. The show was 'written' by Damon Quinn who also produced and appeared in the series. Royal Ulster Constabulary
The Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) was the police force in Northern Ireland from 1922 to 2001.
