Giuseppe Ferrari (painter)
Giuseppe Ferrari (1840–1905) was an Italian painter. Biography After academic studies at Accademia di San Luca in Rome under the tutelage of Alessandro Marini, he travelled through Africa and the Middle East, where he found strong suggestions and inspiration for several landscape paintings of those years. In 1877 he moved to London, where he studied the art of painters as John Constable and William Turner. Ferrari's pupils included Lillie Logan. Artistic production Ferrari is considered one of the most important Italian landscape painters of his time. In particular, he used to portray the campagna romana, insomuch as founded with other painters, among which Enrico Coleman and Cesare Pascarella, the group "XXV della campagna romana". Galleria Nazionale D'Arte Moderna
The ("national gallery of modern and contemporary art"), also known as La Galleria Nazionale, is an art gallery in Rome, Italy. It was founded in 1883 on the initiative of the then Minister Guido Baccelli and is dedicated to modern and contemporary art. History The present building, the Palazzo delle Belle Arti (Palace of Fine Arts) at Via delle Belle Arti, 113 (near the Etruscan Museum) was designed by prominent Italian architect Cesare Bazzani. It was completed between 1911 and 1915. The facade features exterior architectural friezes by sculptors Ermenegildo Luppi, Adolfo Laurenti, and Giovanni Prini, with four figures of Fame holding bronze wreaths, sculpted by Adolfo Pantaresi and Albino Candoni. The museum was expanded and doubled in size by Bazzani in 1934. A new building by Luigi Cosenza was inaugurated in 1988 but closed ten years later due to safety concerns. Fresco
Fresco (plural ''frescos'' or ''frescoes'') is a technique of mural painting executed upon freshly laid ("wet") lime plaster. Water is used as the vehicle for the dry-powder pigment to merge with the plaster, and with the setting of the plaster, the painting becomes an integral part of the wall. The word ''fresco'' ( it, affresco) is derived from the Italian adjective ''fresco'' meaning "fresh", and may thus be contrasted with fresco-secco or secco mural painting techniques, which are applied to dried plaster, to supplement painting in fresco. The fresco technique has been employed since antiquity and is closely associated with Italian Renaissance painting. Modern Art Gallery (Milan)
The Galleria d'Arte Moderna is a modern art museum in Milan, in Lombardy in northern Italy. It is housed in the Villa Reale, at Via Palestro 16, opposite the Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli. The collection consists largely of Italian and European works from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries.
