Girolamo Forabosco
Girolamo Forabosco or Gerolamo Forabosco (1605 – 23 January 1679) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. He was active in Padua and his birthplace of Venice, where he was enrolled in the Venetian ''Fraglia dei Pittori'' between 1634–39 and paid taxes in Venice from 1640-44. He was a pupil of Alessandro Varotari (il Padovanino), and influenced in Venice by Bernardo Strozzi. Gregorio Lazzarini and Pietro Bellotto were among his pupils. Baroque
The Baroque (, ; ) is a style of architecture, music, dance, painting, sculpture, poetry, and other arts that flourished in Europe from the early 17th century until the 1750s. In the territories of the Spanish and Portuguese empires including the Iberian Peninsula it continued, together with new styles, until the first decade of the 19th century. It followed Renaissance art and Mannerism and preceded the Rococo (in the past often referred to as "late Baroque") and Neoclassical styles. It was encouraged by the Catholic Church as a means to counter the simplicity and austerity of Protestant architecture, art, and music, though Lutheran Baroque art developed in parts of Europe as well. Alessandro Leone Varotari (4 April 1588 – 20 July 1649), also commonly known as Il Padovanino, was an Italian painter of the late-Mannerist and early- Baroque Venetian school, best known for having mentored Pietro Liberi, Giulio Carpioni, and Bartolommeo Scaligero. Gregorio Lazzarini
Gregorio Lazzarini (1657 – 10 November 1730) was an Italian painter of mythological, religious and historical subjects, as well as portraits. One of the most successful Venetian artists of the day, a prominent teacher, and father to a significant school of painting, he is best known for having first trained Giambattista Tiepolo, who joined his workshop in 1710 at the age of fourteen. His own style was somewhat eclectic. Life Born in Venice, the son of a barber, he was the brother of the proficient painter, Elisabetta Lazzarini (1662–1729). He trained initially with the Genovese painter Francesco Rosa, then with Girolamo Forabosco, and lastly in the studio of Pietro della Vecchia. He joined the painters' guild in Venice in 1687. Pietro Bellotto
Pietro Bellotti (1625–1700) was an Italian painter active in the Baroque period. Life and Work Bellotti was born in Volciano di Salò in 1627 (1625 according to Orlandi), he gained fame as a painter of portraits and heads of characters. He was a pupil of Girolamo Forabosco in Venice. According to Orlandi he worked for Cardinal Mazzarino, Cardinal Ottoboni (the future Pope Alexander VIII), for the elector of Bavaria and others. He was patronized by Pope Alexander VIII and by the Duke of Uceda. In Mantova he was "superintendent of the city and villa galleries"for Gorizaga. After wandering from court to court he returned to Lake Garda and died in poverty in Gargnano in 1700.
