Gilbert Junior-Senior High School
Gilbert High School is a public high school in Gilbert, Iowa, United States. A part of the Gilbert Community School District, it serves Gilbert and northern Ames. Infrastructure The current high school was opened in 2012. In the high school there is a gymnasium and modern weight lifting facility. Outside there is a softball and baseball diamond, along with a new AstroTurf football field. The school boasts a strong agricultural and mechanics education program. Athletics Gilbert's mascot is the Tiger. Gilbert High School is a member of the Raccoon River Conference. Teams sponsored by the school in fall include football, cross-country, and volleyball. During winter, the school sponsors basketball, wrestling, and bowling. There are also hockey and swim teams in Ames that many Gilbert students compete on, but they are not school-affiliated. Gilbert Community School District is a rural public school district headquartered in Gilbert, Iowa. The district is mostly in Story County but has a portion in Boone County. The district serves Gilbert and sections of northern Ames. The district covers 48 square miles. The Raccoon River Conference is a nine team high school athletic league in central Iowa. Made up of mid-sized school districts located mostly west of Des Moines, all schools in the conference are currently 3A schools, the second largest class of schools in Iowa. Tiger
The tiger (''Panthera tigris'') is the largest living cat species and a member of the genus '' Panthera''. It is most recognisable for its dark vertical stripes on orange fur with a white underside. The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is the regulating body for male Iowa high school interscholastic athletics and is a full member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. Golf
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible.
