Georgia Kokloni
Georgia (or Yeoryía) Koklóni ( el, Γεωργία Κοκλώνη) (born 7 May 1981 in Athens) is a Greek sprinter who specializes in 60 metres and 100 metres. Her first major competition was the 2001 IAAF World Indoor Championships, but she was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 60 m. She won the 60 m bronze at the 2002 European Athletics Indoor Championships, however, and went on to win a gold medal at the 2003 European Athletics U23 Championships, winning the 100 m in 11.33 seconds. Her first global outdoor championships was the 2003 World Championships in Athletics, where she was part of the Greek 4 x 100 metres relay team. They finished third in their heat but were not fast enough to reach the final. She had the honour of representing Greece in her home town at the 2004 Athens Olympics, running as part of the women's 4x100 metre relay team. The team finished last in their heat. European Athletics Indoor Championships
The European Athletics Indoor Championships is a biennial indoor track and field competition for European athletes that is organised by the European Athletic Association. It was held for the first time in 1970, replacing the European Indoor Games, its predecessor event first held in 1966. The championships was an annual event until 1990, when it was changed to its current biennial format. Myriam Soumaré (born 29 October 1986) is a retired French track and field sprinter., beijing2008.cn, ret: Aug 30, 2008 She announced her retirement from athletics in February 2016. Athletics career 2008–2009 Soumaré made her Olympic debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She competed in only one event – the 4 × 100 meters relay together with Muriel Hurtis-Houairi, Lina Jacques-Sébastien and Carima Louami. In their first round heat they did not finish and were eliminated, due to a mistake with the baton exchange. In her debut World Championships appearance at 2009, Soumaré took part in only one event – the 100 metres. 2001 World Championships In Athletics
The 8th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada between 3 August and 12 August and was the first time the event had visited North America. The music for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies was composed by Canadian composers Jan Randall and Cassius Khan. The ceremonies also featured a 1000 voice choir, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Edmonton defeated bids from Paris, France (which hosted the next edition) and the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States to host the event.
