Geidorf
Geidorf () is the 3rd district of the Austrian city of Graz. It is located north of the first two districts Innere Stadt (Graz), I. Innere Stadt and St. Leonhard, II. St. Leonhard. In the east it stretches as far as the Landeskrankenhaus Universitätsklinikum (provincial university hospital) and towards the west it borders the river Mur. As the main campus of the University of Graz is located in Geidorf, many students and professors live here. It had a population of 24,497 in January 2021 and covers an area of 5.5 square kilometres. The postal codes of Geidorf are 8010, 8013, 8015, 8036. Sports From 1902 until 2005 the sports club Grazer AK, Grazer AK (GAK) had its traditional home ground in the Casino Stadium in Geidorf. Innere Stadt () is the 1st district of the Austrian city of Graz, capital of the federal state of Styria. It is the part of the Old Town (in German: Altstadt) containing the Schloßberg and the city park (''Stadtpark''). The district borders are formed by the Mur river between Radetzkybrücke and Keplerbrücke, the Wickenburggasse, the Glacis, Jakominiplatz and the Radetzkystraße. The district covers an area of 1.16 km² and -as of 2011- has a population of 3,545. In 1999, the Old Town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. University Of Graz
The University of Graz (german: link=no, Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, ), located in Graz, Austria, is the largest and oldest university in Styria, as well as the second-largest and second-oldest university in Austria. History The university was founded in 1585 by Archduke Charles II of Austria. The bull of 1 January 1586, published on 15 April 1586, was approved by Pope Sixtus V. For most of its existence it was controlled by the Catholic Church, and was closed in 1782 by Emperor Joseph II in an attempt to gain state control over educational institutions. Joseph II transformed it into a ''lyceum'', where civil servants and medical personnel were trained. In 1827 it was re-instituted as a university by Emperor Francis I, thus gaining the name ''Karl-Franzens-Universität'', meaning ''Charles Francis University''. Grazer AK
Grazer AK, founded 18 August 1902 as Grazer Athletiksport Klub (in Austria the abbreviation GAK is more common), is an Austrian sports club, from the city of Graz in the federal state of Styria (''Steiermark''). The football section used to be one of the most popular Austrian clubs, mostly successful in the decade 1995–2005. The other sections are basketball, diving and tennis, which however all act as separate legal entities. The "GAK" football section was folded during the 2012–13 Regionalliga Mitte Season in Autumn 2012. It has since been revived and returned to Austrian Second League in 2019. Andritz ( sl, Jendrica – "fast-flowing water") is the 12th district of Graz. It is located in the extreme north of the city. It had a population of 18,339 in 2011 and covers an area of 18.47 square kilometres. The postal codes of Andritz are 8010, 8042-8046 and 8054. History The name Andritz was first mentioned in 1265. Andritz's most important industry, the technology company Andritz AG, was established by Josef Körösi in 1852. The largest of its endeavors, a pulp mill, was bought by them in 1913 but which had been in existence since 1790. The company as of 2009 has 13,176 employees. Andritz was a separate municipality until 1938, when it merged with the southern part of Weinitzen and joined Graz. The current district boundaries were set in 1946.
