Geek Pride Day
Geek Pride Day is an initiative to promote geek culture, celebrated annually on May 25. The initiative originated in Spain in 2006 as ( es, Día del orgullo friki) and spread around the world via the Internet. Origins Tim McEachern organized unconnected events called Geek Pride Festival and/or Geek Pride Day 1998 to 2000 at a bar in Albany, New York, which are sometimes seen as a prelude to Geek Pride Day. Dick Morley, a "father" of the PLC, organised Geek Pride Days at The Barn, his retreat in New Hampshire, as early as 2001. He describes it in his bookTechshock – Future under repair(ISA, 2009). He held them on the longest day of the year and he wrote oGeek Pride Day (Or Outing Engineers in the Bush!)on page 19. In 2006, the Spanish blogger Germán Martínez known online as ''señor Buebo'' organized the first celebration. A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making regarding character development. John Derbyshire
John Derbyshire (born 3 June 1945) is a British-born American far-right political commentator, writer, journalist and computer programmer. He was once known as a paleoconservative, until he was fired from the ''National Review'' in 2012 for writing an article for an online magazine that was widely viewed as racist.
